Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 8: Part 3.1
Page 190 (Chapter 8, Page 13)
Panel 1: We move to a mock-up of what the debate stage would look like. It’s a big area with a red and white background, containing the logos of the debate sponsors- the Lawrencesburg Herald Tribune and PBS affiliate KLNO. To the left of the stage is a standard podium while to the right is an opened area where, presumably, Skelton’s cage would be wheeled to. In between both is the moderator’s table.

“Are you thinking about placing him on the stage right podium or stage left?”
Caption (Zoe)
“Is there a difference?”
Panel 2: Cut to a two-part set of panels that focuses on the zombie candidate, starting in the first part with him in the area that we saw him at the start of the page. The lighting of the panel is considerably flattering to his gray eyes- at least as much as can be done for someone who’s undead.

(Nate)
“Depending on the positioning of the body, the stage lights could make him look more vibrant and...human to the people watching. Lessen any anxieties they may have against him, and be more open to your policy platform.”
Panel 3: In the second panel, we see the flip side of the lighting effect on Mr. Skelton. It’s not any type of deficit being witnessed lighting wise. Merely, the effect to make them look much scarier to the television audience.

“Place him in the wrong area- he looks like he just time traveled from a ‘60s era George Romero movie, and…”
Panel 4: Cut to Madison in the present day, nodding in agreement at the general point he’s making through his explanation. As she speaks, she reaches around her back with her left arm to scratch a spot on her back.
MADISON
(interjecting, to Nate)
We join Nixon 1960 in electoral debate infamy- I get the idea. Makes perfectly logical sense to consider it now. Though we’d need to find footage of the place where the debate’s gonna be held to get a really good idea.
Panel 5: We move back to Mr. Kelly in the same setting/layout as the end of the previous page. He nods in agreement at Ms. Mitchell’s statement, glancing over at her side of the laptop screen.
NATE
True. So, where do we go to find it?
Page 191 (Chapter 8, Page 14)
Panel 1: Cut back to Ms. Olson’s side of the laptop, thinking over the question for a short period; her mind piecing the answer together bit by bit.
ZOE
The Lawrenceburg Internet Archives is a good start. They use it mostly for high school basketball games though. So I’m not sure you’ll find anything good to help you out there.
Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Just as the words come out of the woman’s mouth, another thought pops into her head; a burst of relief upon her face as she speaks.
ZOE
(Cont.)
Wait, I got a better idea- the Miss Stupid Ages Pageant! It’s been awhile since I saw one of them live...
Panel 3: Cut back to Nate processing the answer with a mixture of puzzlement and fascination at the answer Zoe gave; the setting and layout similar to what we saw at the end of the previous page, save for a slight shift in his body to the left.
NATE
Miss Stupid Ages Pageant…?
ZOE
(Off-Panel) The Pageant thing is more of an ironic thing. Technically, it’s more Vaudeville than any of that backward BS they called pageants back in the old world...
Panel 4: We move to a screenshot from the pageant years ago. It shows a line of women dressed in fashion from different ages of the late 20th and early 21st century. There’s even one who looks like Lori Petty in Tank Girl.
Caption
(Cont., Zoe)
“Every year, women from nearby towns would come dressed as people from the Stupid Ages and do skits or sing songs lampooning some of the stupid stuff they used to do then.”
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of one of the women: a heavyset Samoan dressed as Courtney Hole circa-Hole, playing an acoustic guitar and singing something to the crowd; the lights slightly gleaming down on her dress and face in a flattering fashion.
Caption
(Cont., Zoe) “There was even a trans woman one year who yodeled a song dressed as Courtney Love which was composed solely of nonsensical hate Tweets found on the Internet Archive.”
Panel 6: We move back to Zoe in the same setting/layout as Panel 2, finishing up the remainder of her explanatory story to the young man with some semblance of optimism on her face.
ZOE
(Cont.)
It’s been years since they put those on. But the quality should be good enough to advise where we should go.
NATE
(Off-Panel)
Awesome! What’s the address?
