Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 8: Part 4.1

Page 196 (Chapter 8, Page 19)

Panel 1: We move to a shot of one of Rep. Jenkins’ supporters at a rally of his, looking up at the stage in awe; every word sticking to him as it comes out of the politician’s mouth. You can see a slice of some of the other members of the audience around him with roughly the same expressions on their faces.

REP. JENKINS

(Off-Panel)

Even the county’s Democrat Party’s thinks she’s too lefty- did you read about this?

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the Congressman at a podium, speaking to the packed crowd with a sense of energized gusto to appeal to the “common man” while also displaying a modicum of statesmanship that keeps things under control.

REP. JENKINS

(Cont., to the audience)

Their head- Vincent Sierra- was out in the...I forget where precisely...he said that “rogue elements in the party” forced Henry Skelton- er, Syms- on to the ticket in an attempt to make them “Dem-Socialist lite.” For once in my life, I actually agree with a Democrat- who knew!

(chuckles, Bubble 2)

If this little ghoul, with the “bloated, Socialist ideas” they’re spouting, won the seat- it would be a “massive disaster” unseen since the middle of the Stupid Ages.

Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. As he finishes on the rest of his soundbyte, you can see the sections of audience visible in the panel laugh at it including Mr. Jenkins himself.

REP. JENKINS

(Cont.)

When a party that’s as far left as the Democrat Party’s been is saying you’re too lefty...I’ve always wanted to run against an American Jeremy Corbyn. Here’s my chance!

Panel 4: Off-stage left a beat later, we see his campaign manager Macy watching the speech with a far more subdued demeanor. You can see the short hallway leading to the exit off-stage in the background behind her.

REP. JENKINS

(Cont., Off-Panel)

Now I’ll take some questions from you fine folks...

Panel 5: We move to a slight close-up on the woman a few moments later. Her phone suddenly rings inside her light brown suit coat, drawing her attention in that direction; her face remaining unchanged compared to the previous panel.

Page 197 (Chapter 8, Page 20)

Panel 1: Action shot on Ms. O’Henry a moment later on the phone, stepping away toward a quieter part to listen to the other end. You can see part of the Congressman onstage in the background continuing the speech as this goes on.

MACY

(to Austin, annoyed)

You’re only to call this line unless you got a breakthrough.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of Austin seated in a far more spacious and better funded editing bay back at the campaign’s headquarters. He’s got green eyes and round egg shaped head, wearing a lime green Cubs shirt; the side of his head and shoulder propping up the phone to his ear.

MACY

(Cont., through the receiver)

If you haven’t, I swear to RiRi...

AUSTIN

(eager, to Macy) Yes, ma’am. I’ve pulled it off. Had to blow a couple of favors on friends from DoD to get there.

Panel 3: Cut to an over the shoulder shot of him looking at a laptop screen placed on the table in front of him. There’s a video right in the middle of the screen, which hasn’t been activated by this point.

AUSTIN

(Cont.)

But...I got there.

Panel 4: Back to Macy in a two-part set of panels; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 2. In the first part, she appears far more intrigued and optimistic about the news from her subordinate.

MACY

Excellent! This is verified footage of Skelton in the Wars, on the rampage?

AUSTIN

(from the receiver)

Yes and no…

Panel 5: In part 2, you can see her calm and optimistic demeanor shift quickly toward a more antagonistic one; her hand gripping the sides of the phone in an angered posture.

MACY

(with a snarl)

Don’t get cute, Mr. Turner. Not in any semblance of a mood for it!

AUSTIN

(from the receiver)

I’m not, ma’am. It’s the truth.

Panel 6: Back to Austin in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. He shakes his head in deferential protest to the statement from the previous panel; a slight grin coming over the side of his face, connected to the same disarming deference as his body language’s showing.

AUSTIN

(Cont.)

The footage is of him on the rampage during the Wars, from the face up. Below that...

MACY

(through the receiver)

...Deep Fakes? I thought those fell out of practice following Reconstruction.

AUSTIN

(Bubble 2)

True. But the How-Tos are still on Internet Archive, ripe for the plucking.
