Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 8: Part 4.3

Page 200 (Chapter 8, Page 23)

Panel 1: We move to a two-part set of panels focused on the video link of the ad. In the first part, it’s just a blank black screen with the same bar settings at the bottom of it you’d find with any video on the internet. You can see Macy’s forefinger coming into view, moving toward the “Play” button a split second before she’s set to press it.

Panel 2: In the second part, the ad begins with a series of headlines focused on the Highway 9 tragedy from back in the end of Chapter 5/start of Chapter 6; musical notes coming from the bottom right of the panel view, signifying a dramatic music score that follows around for a good chunk of the ad.

NARRATOR

(Off-Panel)

We’ve seen firsthand the damage a Z can pose to our community once it breaks free of its confines and goes on the rampage.

Panel 3: Cut to a little later on in the ad where we see a few op-ed headlines wondering whether or not Skelton would follow along the exact same path if he were elected, and what the nation would look like were that to happen.

NARRATOR

(Cont., Off-Panel)

And yet so many of us blithely ignore all of that danger in favor of the glow of pretty words...

Panel 4: Cut to a brief shot of a cheering crowd interspersed from one of Skelton’s past rallies, youthful and vibrant and diverse.

NARRATOR

(Cont., Off-Panel)

...and bright lights.

Panel 5: We then move quickly to a shot of Skelton at an earlier interview, seemingly snapped from the TV as it was happening. The zombie politico’s head is tilted up and to the right in a sort of chuckle.

NARRATOR

(Cont., Off-Panel)

All their undead leader, Mr. Skelton-Syms. The “undead man with a plan”…

HENRY

(seemingly cut from a longer answer)

--We’re not the bad guys here!

Panel 6: Cut to a shot of the found footage from the Wars that was teased in the previous page; the music ended suddenly. At the front of the pack of zombies, you can see someone that seamlessly has Henry’s face and mannerisms. The only sounds in the scene are the crackle of bullets and the groaning roars of the undead horde.

NARRATOR

(Off-Panel) Are you sure?

Page 201 (Chapter 8, Page 24)

Panel 1: We move to the end of the ad- a pitch-black screen with the words “Are You Sure?” printed right at the center of the screen. In tiny print at the bottom is the disclaimer “Paid for By Jenkins For Congress and the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee.”

REP. JENKINS

(Off-Panel) I’m Terry Jenkins, and I approve this message.”

Panel 2: We cut to a shot of Madison and Zoe in a hotel room, watching the ad from their TV. Madison has a look of dread on her face, while Zoe is more puzzled and confused by the footage as a whole. You can see a slight smattering of the hotel room behind them in the background.

MADISON

Welp. This is a fine shite pile- must be a day that ends in Y.

ZOE

Something feels off…

Panel 3: Cut to a slight close-up on Ms. Mitchell, turning her head over to the right in Zoe’s direction. She flashes a look of mild shock at her friend’s statement; her eyes moving up in cue to Ms. Olson standing up off-panel.

MADISON

How? It looked pretty cut and dry to me. Ducking a secret identity is one thing. Trying to explain our candidate rampaging past hundreds of bodies.

Panel 4: Action shot of Zoe pacing around a corner of the room in thought; her left thumb and forefinger underneath her chin in a contemplative pose. You can see part of the room’s window and shades in the background to the left.

ZOE

I know. But there was something about it that felt…a little artificial.

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. She stops pacing a few moments later, shooting out the first idea that pops into her head.

ZOE

(Cont.)

I got an old hacker buddy who’s based out of Cleveland. I can send it to her, see if I’m just being a bit paranoid.

MADISON

(Off-Panel)

Sure.

Panel 6: Back to Madison at the edge of the bed, shrugging in casual agreement to Zoe’s idea. Her eyes shift away from her friend back to the TV as she speaks.

MADISON

(Cont.)

Don’t have a lot to lose at this point.
