Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Madison a moment later, looking up slightly from the tablet screen contemplating the last part of Nate’s statement with an intrigued look on her face.
MADISON
(to herself)
Huh…not the worst idea.
NATE
(Off-Panel)
Now, let’s circle back on what we worked on yesterday regarding social issues…
Panel 2: We move to a sky shot looking down at a miniature golf course just before sunset. You can see the usual variety of different structures and statues littered around the course, including those that look like Wonder Woman and Iron Man. To the bottom left is the parking lot, which is a little over ¾ full at this point.

(Off-Panel)
Mini Golf? Didn’t expect you to go this route.
Panel 3: On ground level, we see our two heroines stepping out onto the course; golf clubs and balls firmly in hand. Ms. Mitchell already has her headphones over her ears, though they haven’t been turned on at this point.
ZOE
(Cont., to Madison)
I get the fun part. But would’ve figured the crowds would be a turn off.
MADISON
(explanatory, to Zoe)
On the contrary, this is actually my “happy place” going back to middle school. I...
Panel 4: Cut to a slight close-up of Ms. Mitchell in mid-stride, clearing her throat a beat later; a glint of nostalgia in her eyes as she speaks.
MADISON
(Cont.)
My dad would take me to this little mini golf course on Avery Street- the Cosmic Cube- whenever I felt...off. Always got me back together by the end of it.
Panel 5: Back to Zoe, flashing a grin and a shrug at her friend’s explanation; the sense of surprise replaced here by a sense of calm and mild anticipation about what’s to come.
ZOE
Long as it gets you on your A-Game before the debate, I’m game. Fair warning though- I’ve never actually played mini golf before...or any sports for that matter.
Panel 6: We move to the first tee with Ms. Olson placing her rainbow colored ball on the center of the mat. You can see a few other people walking on the fake grass of another hole in the background of the shot.

“So, this might get ugly quick.”

Panel 1: Action shot of Zoe a few moments later, taking the stroke from her club off-panel left down the partially seen fake grass exterior of the hole.
Panel 2: A two-part set of panels that follows the path of the ball over the course of a few seconds. In part 1, it starts out looking like it’ll be a pretty good opening shot. In the background, you can see parts of other holes nearby including a windmill hole and a TARDIS hole.
Panel 3: In part 2, a second later, the ball veers sharply to the left further and further away from the hole itself until…
Panel 4: Close-up on the ball coming to a screeching halt on one side of the “grass,” illuminated by the glow of one of the lights on the course that is off-panel. You can see a section of the wall on the edge of the hole in the upper center-right section of the panel.
Panel 5: We move to an action shot of Ms. Olson taking the first few strides toward where the ball had landed. She has a fairly surprised look on her face in terms of the quality of the initial shot. You can see Madison in the background over Zoe’s left shoulder, looking at the same shot.
ZOE
(surprised at herself)
Not bad.
MADISON
(contrarian, to Zoe)
The large concrete block in front of your ball would say otherwise.
ZOE
(Bubble 2)
Better than it bouncing off a wall and stopping two inches from the tee, which has happened to me. A lot!
Panel 6: After placing her ball on the tee, Ms. Mitchell stands back up; her eye glancing over at the hole to size up the shot. With her free right hand, she reaches up to the side of her headphones in order to turn them on.
MADISON
(half grin, to herself)
This calls for some Stevie…!
