Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 10: Part 1.2

Page 227 (Chapter 10, Page 3)

Panel 1: Side shot of Zoe who nods subtly at the response, reaching over to the cocktail glass in preparation to take a sip. The row of chairs behind her in the background are mostly empty, save for someone at the far end of the bar.

ZOE

I’ve always wondered how she pulls that off on her own. Not that I have any desire to do her job, but...just a curious bit.

Panel 2: We move to a similarly framed shot of Madison, situating herself on the stool ever so slightly as she speaks. You can see a few more people at the bar behind her in the background compared to the previous panel.

MADISON

She actually explained it to me once before a stop in Cambridge City.

Panel 3: In flashback form, we see Madison and Capt. Rogers seated in the back of a car on the road somewhere. The good Captain is holding a phone in her left hand with a three-dimensional display that shows a small cylindrical drone.

CAPT. ROGERS (to Madison)

We call it the Red White & Bluewing.

MADISON

(to Capt. Rogers) Apt, though not really original.

CAPT. ROGERS

(Bubble 2)

It’s the military- kinda comes with the territory...

Panel 4: Slight close-up on the drone in action mode displaying the example as Rogers says it. You can see it the RW&Bwing moving into position on a holographic zombie stumbling out of a bombed out cage door.

CAPT. ROGERS

(Cont., Off-Panel)

The drone keeps watch on the Z using a variety of sensors heightened specifically to their uniquely cold body temperature. So that whenever they break free for whatever reason…

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments later, a complex laser grid emerges all around the undead intruder, containing them in another cage unable to move another inch.

CAPT. ROGERS

(Cont., Off-Panel)

They’re locked in place and pushed back into the cage where we’d fix it up from there.

Panel 6: Back to Zoe in the present with the drink back down on the bar top; the setting and layout similar to Panel 1. She’s been listening to the whole story all this time, and has one question in mind.

ZOE

What happens if the zombie breaks through this containment thing it makes?

ZOE

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 7, Bubble 1)

Right.

Panel 7: We move to a shot of the Captain’s face back in the flashback from Panel 5. She turns her head a little further toward Ms. Mitchell, answering the question that she gave her at the same time.

CAPT. ROGERS

Death. Quarantine. Metric ton of chaos...little slice of home.

Page 228 (Chapter 10, Page 4)

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as Panel 6 of the previous page. Zoe laughs out loud hearing the rest of the explanation. As she speaks, you can see part of the bartender walking in to view from one side of the bar.

ZOE

(to Madison)

Have we ever told her how much of a badass she is?

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of Madison chuckling a little bit lighter than her friend is; her face showing a sense of agreement to the statement.

MADISON

(to Zoe)

I imagine she knows. We should send ‘em a Honeymoon gift.

ZOE

(Off-Panel)

Agreed. Where do they live?

MADISON

(Bubble 2)

Sea-Tac, I think. I’ll double check the employee rolls after the party.

ZOE

(Bubble 2, Off-Panel)

Sounds good.

Panel 3: Back to a side shot of Ms. Olson, staring face to face with the bartender L.A.- a tall woman with an androgynous fashion sense and an already weary look on her face for the early evening, listening to her order.

ZOE

(Cont., to L.A.)

Yo Bardude- what’s the greasiest thing you serve here?

L.A.

We do a big plate of poutine with your choice of melted cheese or big cheese curds.

ZOE

(Bubble 2) Mmmm- melted cheese, please and thank you!

L.A.

(Bubble 2)

Takes a little while to make though…

ZOE

(Bubble 3)

We can wait. We’re gonna be here all night, I’m guessing....

Panel 4: We move to a more focused shot on Zoe a moment later, flashing a sly half-grin in response to L.A.’s statement from the end of the previous panel.

ZOE

(Cont.)

And I’ve always wanted to try poutine.

Panel 5: Madison glances back at her friend a moment later as the bartender L.A. walks off. She scratches the left side of her head, flashing a puzzled look at the final part of her statement.

MADISON

What’s poutine?

Panel 6: Back to Zoe in the same setting/layout as Panel 4, glancing over panel left at her friend with a simple shrug; her right hand reaching out of panel view to grab her cocktail.

ZOE

French fries drenched in chili. Basically, two of my favorite foods on the same plate.
