Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 10: Part 1.3
Page 229 (Chapter 10, Page 5)
Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that focuses on a slightly elevated shot of the two ladies at the bar, watching the TV perched above them. Zoe takes a sip of her cocktail, while Madison glances around the general area in front of her. You can see a few people walking by in the background of the shot.
Panel 2: In the second part, as Ms. Olson lowers her glass back down on the bar top, Madison tilts her head toward her friend with a quizzical look on her face.
MADISON
(to Zoe)
You ever regret joining the campaign- at the beginning?
Panel 3: Slight close-up on Zoe a moment later, chuckling lightly at the question as if it wasn’t the first time she’s said it.
ZOE
(to Madison)
Dudette, you’ve asked me that before. Three different times.
Panel 4: Cut to a similarly framed shot of Madison a moment later, partially surprised by the response; her face still showing a quizzical expression as she tries to figure out where the other times took place.
MADISON
I have?
Panel 5: A three-part set of panels consisting of different stills where she had asked the exact same question. In the first part, we see them after a fumbled rally early on in the campaign.
Caption
Time #1: After Henry’s tongue shot out at a rally three weeks into the campaign, hitting a cameraman on the forehead.
Panel 6: In the second still, we see Ms. Mitchell banging her head on a hotel wall somewhere in frustration, looking up from a story she’s reading on her tablet at that point. You can see a partial shadow pop up from the left of the panel view which hits the young woman’s face.
Caption
Time #2: At a Holiday Inn following a town hall, after accusations of corrupt impropriety regarding Rep. Jenkins’ lobbyist brother fell on deaf ears in the press.
Panel 7: In the third and final still, we see them at HQ drinking all kinds of liquor as pundits respond positively on TV to Rep. Jenkins’ marathon press conference following the Schumer Bay disaster.

Time #3: Trashed on Canadian and RHK-made booze, watching the positive response to Rep. Jenkins’ marathon presser after the Schumer Bay disaster.

Panel 1: Back to Madison in the present day reacting to the number of times mentioned; the setting and layout similar to Panel 4 of the previous page. There’s a mixture of weariness and shock in her eyes as she speaks.
MADISON
(to Zoe)
Fuck. This has been a long ass campaign…!
MADISON
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1)
From time to time. Usually in my head. This seemed like a pretty good exception to the rule.
Panel 2: We move to a shot of Zoe looking on surprised at Ms. Mitchell’s response, tinged with a barely held together laugh. She has her half-full cocktail in her right hand as she speaks. Off-panel, you can hear Madison’s phone ringing.
ZOE (to Madison)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you cuss before, Maddie...
ZOE
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 1, Bubble 2)
True.
Panel 3: Action shot of Ms. Mitchell answering the call after a few short rings; the glow of the screen reflecting off the lower half of her face.
NATE
(from the phone, to Madison)
Hey...did I miss anything?
MADISON
(to Nate)
Not really, no. We’ve only been here a few minutes.
ZOE
(Off-Panel)
Also ordered food- poutine.
NATE
(Bubble 2, from the phone; to Zoe)
Nice nice…!
Panel 4: We move to a shot of Mr. Kelly back in L.A., standing in line for something in the late afternoon partial sun. He’s dressed up in a long sleeved manner that is a bit casual, but not overly so; a sense of fashion shared by some of the other people in front of him to the left of the panel view.
MADISON
(from the phone)
Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun over there.
NATE
(casually)
One of Ro’s films is playing over at the Drafthouse, with a Q&A after. Me and Leela are coming for moral support…
LEELA (interjecting, Off-Panel)
And free booze.
NATE (Bubble 2) ...and free booze. Obviously.
Panel 5: Madison chuckles back at the bar, flashing a little bit of a wider smile at the statement; the setting and layout similar to Panel 3. As she speaks, you can see her look over toward the bartender off-panel with their food order.
MADISON
Sounds fun. I’ve never been to the Drafthouse before.
NATE
(from the phone)
Me neither. Can’t wait to see what it looks like, especially their bar…
BARTENDER
(Off-Panel)
Food’s up!
Panel 6: Action shot of the bartender laying a big plate of fresh poutine on the countertop right between the two women. You can see her already walking off to the next customer to the right of the panel.
