Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 10: Part 2.3
Page 234 (Chapter 10, Page 11)
Panel 1: We move back to the same setting/layout as Panel 3 of the previous page. The two of them look up towards the TV with their respective drinks in hand; the poutine plate is a little under halfway eaten by now.

DEBBIE
(Off-Panel, from the TV)
After some technical issues, we have a few more returns coming in for tonight’s big contest: the 6th Congressional district.
Panel 2: Cut to a screenshot of data that pops up on the TV a moment later. It shows the two competitors on the top corners of the screen (Jenkins to the left, Skelton to the right). Below them are percentages (Jenkins 50.1%, Skelton 49.8%) and vote totals underneath (15,539 for Jenkins to 15,508 for Skelton). And in between this data you can see in yellow letters- “TOO CLOSE TO CALL.”
DEBBIE
(Cont., Off-Panel)
The race is still too close to call, according to the AP. We’re up to 10% of the vote now which- according to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office- is the bulk of the early vote in the district.
Panel 3: We move down to a shot of Ms. Mitchell at her stool, listening to the rest of the report as it trails off. You can see the first glimmers of excitement in her eyes, tempered with a little bit of unease to what the future could hold.
DEBBIE
(Cont., Off-Panel)
There is speculation from some analysts online that the Congressman will start to pull away once a few of his strongholds in the district start reporting votes. But at this point, it’s mostly that- speculation. As we’ve seen many times in American history, anything can happen...
MADISON
(interjecting, responding to the reporter)
Damn right it can!
Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Zoe raising her glass just below her chin; the cocktail glass freezing in that position just before she takes a sip. She looks over at her friend, flashing an equally excited grin back at her.
ZOE
We’re only a few thousand off the lead. Not bad for a couple of weirdos…!
Panel 5: Back to a shot of Madison in the same setting/layout as Panel 3. She chuckles lightly in a sense of agreement to the idea. You can see her own glass raised up in the lower left part of the panel view as she speaks.
MADISON
True indeed.

Panel 1: We move to a shared shot of the two ladies a few moments later (Madison to the left, Zoe to the right of the panel view). Ms. Mitchell takes a deep solid swig of her drink, while her friend looks on via her periphery.
Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. We see the young woman let out a halting cough post-swig; the buzz of the overly caffeinated drink hitting her at that moment. Zoe chuckles at the stilted reaction, turning her gaze down to the bar top. You can see a series of musical notes drifting in from off-panel left in Madison’s direction.
ZOE
(to Madison)
How’s that weird little drink of yours going?
MADISON
(nods, to Zoe)
Better with each swig. And still giving me a good buzz.
ZOE
(Bubble 2)
Always good to have on a night like this.
Panel 3: Slight close-up on Madison a moment later, noticing the sounds of music for the first time. You can see the glass all but disappeared from view in the bottom left corner of the panel view.
MADISON
(intrigued)
Didn’t know there was a live band playing.
Panel 4: Cut to L.A. a short distance away, overhearing Ms. Mitchell’s statement to herself. As she speaks, you can see her focus split between the customer and the stage off-panel.
L.A. (explanatory, to Madison)
It’s karaoke night. Not my all-time fav personally, but pretty good for a chuckle laughing at drunk white people singing off-key.
Panel 5: Back to Madison and Zoe in the same setting and layout as Panel 1. The two of them look at one another, sizing up the idea silently amongst the two of them.
MADISON
(agreeing to Zoe, with a caveat)
Once it gets to 20%, I’ll go up onstage. If you try to push me beforehand…
ZOE
(knowing nod)
I know. I remember the pizza place in Columbus quite well- no way I wanna repeat that fracking madness.
