The Community, Issue 1: Part 1.3

Page 5

Panel 1: Seanna glances over at their friend a few moments later, standing in a partially crouched position; the headache settled now, though they don't look fully healthy.

SEANNA

(slight nod, to Lynn)

Yeah, I--Just a sinus headache I think.

SEANNA

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1)

Thoroughly, yeah. I think I can get through work today.

Panel 2: Covering the other half of the scene, we see Lynn standing in roughly the same place she was at the end of the previous page. You can see the same look of concern on her face she had then as well.

LYNN

(wants to be sure, to Seanna)

You sure of that?

LYNN

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 1, Bubble 2)

Okay. I trust your judgment...

Panel 3: We move to a more framed shot of Lynn's face a beat later, showing a little more relief compared to the previous panel.

LYNN

(Cont.)

Can't blame me for worrying though, given the line of work we're in.

Panel 4: Cut to Seanna minutes later in their checkout lane with the plexiglass barrier, glancing to the left of the panel view as another customer walks toward them.

Caption

(Cont., Lynn)

"Last thing we need is you deadso just 'cause you were trying to cover tuition."

SEANNA

(thought bubble)

Makes two of us...!

Panel 5: A smattering of headlines from all over the country, both in newspaper form and online screenshots detailing the many workers in grocery stores that have died due to the unnamed virus.

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as Panel 4. They snap into customer service mode after the customer in question has laid out their groceries on the conveyor belt.

SEANNA

(to the customer)

Hi! How's your day going?

Page 6

Panel 1: A three-part set of panels consisting of a montage of different points from Seanna's workday. In the first panel, you can see a large assortment of frozen meats on the conveyor belt.

SEANNA

(Off-Panel, thought bubble)

A little overkill...unless they're sheltering the offensive line for the 49ers. Or keto people.

Panel 2: In the next panel, we see a few cartons of mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwiched between two tall bottles of red wine. You can also see partially to the right of the panel some cleaning products.

SEANNA

(Off-Panel, thought bubble)

I can't fault their logic (or their taste in ice cream), though I don't drink.

Panel 3: In the third and final panel, there's an assortment of fruits and vegetables to the right of the belt. And at the top of it is an assortment of body oils as well as whipped cream.

SEANNA

(Off-Panel, thought bubble)

Nor theirs, though I have a feeling I don't wanna be in the room when this stuff is...

Panel 4: Action shot of Seanna a beat later, stopping just after scanning the last item, moments before they're about to announce the price (visible to the panel. You can see they're more sickly and nauseous than before.

Panel 5: Slight close-up on their face after a few moments, attempting to appear in better shape than they really are.

SEANNA

(slight smile, to the customer)

Sorry about that--it'll be $55.82.

(thought bubble)

'Kay. Nausea, exhaustion, and light headedness...This feels like more than just a sinus headache.
