Panel 1: At her home office minutes later, we see Anna answering the call from her son. You can see a section of her computer in the background, along with a framed photo of Shirley Chisholm on the wall.

ANNA

(surprised smile, to Seanna)

Hey Thousand Watt- how's work? I thought you weren't off till 5:30.

SEANNA

(from the receiver, to Anna)

It's good. I...I got off early. I think I'm coming down with something though.

ANNA

(Bubble 2)

Oh. Must be that flu that's been going around. I'll go make some of your uncle's famous three alarm Hat Trick chili when you get home.

SEANNA

(Bubble 2)

It's not the flu. I think it might be the...

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. She's stopped in the middle of her thought by a sustained coughing spell from her child that knocks her from the casual demeanor she maintained earlier.

ANNA

(deeply worried)

Oh. Oh no, no, no...

Panel 3: Back to Seanna on the bus, wiping off a bit of sweat from the left side of their bow; the right hand keeping the phone up to their ear.

ANNA

(Cont., from the receiver)

Have you set up the appointment?

SEANNA

(slight nod)

At the bus stop. I plotted out the route- should be enough to get there on time.

ANNA

(Bubble 2)

Good, good...call me the moment the test's done. I'll pick you up.

SEANNA

(Bubble 2)

Of course, Mom.

Panel 4: Close-up on Ms. Watkins' face back at the home office. She's stood up from her leather office chair at this point; a glint of emotion in the eye of her worried face.

ANNA

Love you...

Panel 5: A similarly framed close-up of Seanna a moment later, showing the same degree of subtle emotion and love on their face as they speak.

SEANNA

Love you too.

Caption

(Seanna)

"Just keep your eyes open...keep the brain active."

Panel 1: A short time later, we see them stepping off the bus looking over to the right at the testing location they found. You can see the sun shining bluntly off their slick, sweat filled face.

SEANNA

(Cont., thought bubble)

Try not to dwell on whatever outcome might pop up from it, no matter how utterly terrifying it might be.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the high school where the testing is taking place- a massive line already forming around the edge of the building and to the entrance.

Panel 3: Back to Watkins in a standing pose, looking at the line with a hard gulp in the pit of their throat.

SEANNA

(to themselves)

Not working- need a little help...

Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The young person continues forward once more, summoning any scrap of energy they can find for the moment.

SEANNA

(thought bubble)

How'd that song go again?
