The Community, Issue 1: Part 4.3

Page 23

Panel 1: Cut to Anna standing at the doorway, looking on with amazement at what just happened. You can see a few more wrinkles and gray hairs on her face denoting subtly the passage of time compared to her appearance at the beginning of the issue.

ANNA

(Cont., stunned and near tears)

You're alive! My God, it--it's a miracle! I never thought I'd see you again...

Panel 2: Back to Seanna glancing from the side as their mother walks toward them. They raise their eyebrow is disbelief, scoffing appreciative at the overall statement.

SEANNA

(appreciative, to Anna)

Good to see you too, Mom. Don't know if I'd call it a miracle though. I mean...

Panel 3: A moment later, we see mother and son share a nice warm hug on the bed, momentarily breaking up their train of thought.

SEANNA

(Cont.)

It hasn't been that long! Right?

Panel 4: Slight close-up on Watkins face a few moments after they break the hug. Which clicks in a general question connected to the act.

SEANNA

...What's today's date?

SEANNA (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 5, Bubble 1)

...What?!

Panel 5: Anna looks on somberly at her son's answer.

ANNA

November 8th, 2022.

Panel 1: As this sad scene takes place, thousands of miles south in Rio de Janiero, a small group of people walk along the pathway of a memorial littered with the names of the dead to the virus.

(Cont., Anna)

"There's a lot we need to talk about, son."

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. There's a little puff of smoke a short time later emanating from the right side of the panel view.

Panel 3: Close-up to ground level in the direction of the puff of smoke from the previous panel. You can see a young woman in her 20s named CELIA: black, sized, dressed in an all black punkish style with long light blue hair. She's glances at the names laid out on a long concrete wall to the left of the panel view.

Panel 4: Action shot of her walking down after a brief moment of respect given to the dead. At this point, something catches her eye in the distance which elicits a mild chuckle tinged with bravado and anger.

CELIA

(translated from Portuguese)

Hello Sousasshole. Your goosestepping goons cleaned off my handiwork from last week. And the week before.

Panel 5: A moment later, the young girl rares back in an attacking pose to whatever she's been speaking to; her right fist clenching, showing a respectably sized bicep.

CELIA

(Cont., translated from Portuguese)

Given it's Amelia's birthday today, I thought I'd try something differently.

Page 25

Panel 1: Action shot of Celia emerging from the puff of portal smoke and punching a bronze statue of the former Brazilian President so hard it breaks off from the rest of the piece.

Panel 2: We move to a two-part set of panels moments later, focused on a stretch of road miles from the public memorial site. In the first part, you can see a speck launch skyward like a flare moments after the previous panel.

Panel 3: In the second part, seconds later the head lands with a massive "THUD!" indented into the pavement of the road; a car moving from left to right stopped a few feet away from hitting it. You can see the chin and mouth smushed into a featureless blob just below its nose.
