Daylight Saving, Issue 1: Part 2.3
Page 11
Panel 1: Millie looks at the ancient piece of tech, pondering what exactly the thing is as well as the realm of danger that might arise from all this.
Panel 2: A few moments later, she tilts her head back at Brie with the first thought that comes to mind.
MILLIE
I know trying to shake you from that big "Daylight Saving" plan of yours is fruitless. So tell me, if the test's successful, that you're going to an unchaotic year.
Panel 3: Brie shrugs at the degree of worry from their friend, reaching to take a bite at the remainder in lunch still in front of them.
BRIE
January 1st, 2000. Back above ground in what they used to call Los Angeles.
Panel 4: The nonchalance sparks a level of concern on the young woman's face; her posture straightening up ever so slightly as she speaks.
MILLIE
Ancient History wasn't my best subject in school. But I'm pretty sure the year 2000 was absolutely crap for people like you, dude. Same with the first half of that century, now that I think about it.
MILLIE
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 5, Bubble 1) How do you know?
Panel 5: The young person swallows the bit of food a beat later, looking back with an unease that's followed by a glint of relief as they go through each detail of it.
BRIE
You're not wrong, Mill. But I know that year is the one with seminal importance for...everything.
BRIE
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 2) It started back in 8th Form...

Panel 1: Flashback to 13 year old Brie back in their parents house, walking into the dining room with a look of "I'm in trouble" on their face.
Caption
(Cont., Brie)
"I'd gotten back from school and my moms called me to the dining room for what I thought was a simple mistake."
BRIE
If this is about the mechanical cat in the kitchen, I didn't know it could climb up the walls like that. I've already found a way to fix it in--
Panel 2: We see Joanna and Anya seated at the table a few feet from their daughter; the former motioning for her child to relax. You can see the same notebook Mx. Benoit's been writing in before placed directly in front of them.
JOANNA
(interjecting) You're not in trouble, Brie. We just wanted to talk to you about something.
Panel 3: With no degree of apprehension, Brie pulls a chair in front of their parents. You can see their hand up on the tabletop, placing an old iPhone they were playing with earlier.
BRIE
(curious) Okay...What's that book over there?
Panel 4: Same setting/layout as Panel 2. Joanna flashes a warm smile to mask the nervousness brewing in the pit of her stomach, aided by Anya's hand locked into hers underneath the table.
JOANNA
It's actually what we wanted to talk to you about.
ANYA
(chiming in)
We know how interested you are about the AG times, particularly the Wasted Age.
JOANNA
(Bubble 2) I was actually the same way when I was your age. We were hoping to gift it to you, do what you want with it.
Panel 5: The bit of news catches the young person by surprise; a slight eyebrow elevated, eager to find out more information about the subject.
BRIE
Oh wow...thanks! I didn't know that about you, Mom.
Panel 6: Close-up on Joanna's face a beat later nodding, watching with a nostalgic glint in her eyes as young Mx. Benoit reaches out off-panel to grab the notebook.
JOANNA
Yeah. At first, it was just for an assignment in my History class. Then it kinda snowballed from there...
