Daylight Saving, Issue 1: Part 3.2

Panel 1: Brie scoops up another bit of their lunch with their fork, pondering the multilayered question with the same level of thought they've been given off and on all these many years.
BRIE
That's a great question. One that I don't really have a great answer for, outside of just faith in the general beacon of humanity. Which I know is ironic, given that home's in the bottom of what they called the Pacific Ocean.
Panel 2: A few moments later, they slurp up the bit of food as they proceed to answer the question hinted at in the previous panel.
BRIE
(Cont.) But there are bits and pieces from that time of people who tried to fight that good fight, to pull humankind away from the environmental catastrophe it was creating. I have to hope I can reach those people who'll find the confidence themselves to do the long term stuff after I'm gone in a year's time.
Panel 3: Millie chuckles respectfully at her friend's confident rejoinder, spotting one particular issue that comes to mind.
MILLIE
That's all fine and good, Cami. But how are you gonna survive financially speaking all that time, use your knowledge of circuit boards that won't be invented for 40+ more years?
Panel 4: Brie chuckles lightly at the back end of their chewing, recognizing the humor behind the snide comment.
Panel 5: After finally swallowing the bit of food, Mx. Benoit fires back with the prepared in advance answer in their mind.
BRIE
Remember the carnival a few years ago?
MILLIE
(Off-Panel) Mm-hmm...vaguely.
BRIE
(Bubble 2) One of the big prizes at the Ball Toss was a relic of the uber rich: a Billion dollar gold card that supposedly could summon hard currency at the press of a button.
MILLIE
(Bubble 2, Off-Panel) Where the hells was I then?
BRIE
(Bubble 3) Chatting up one of the Burley Babes, if I'm not mistaken, before one of their shows.
Panel 6: Action shot taken years earlier of Brie at a carnival, pitching a fastball via one of the big yellow softballs in their right hand.

(Cont., Brie)
"Anyway, I took the energy inside trying to navigate through the crowd, and...tried my luck."
Panel 7: We see the softball crash into a pyramid of three glass bottles, thus winning the young person the big prize in question.

Panel 1: Back in the break room, Millie takes in one final swig of her drink; the lunch break officially coming to an end in a matter of a few minutes, with the return to work imminent.
Panel 2: She places the glass back down on the table a beat later, beginning to stand up from her chair as she speaks.
MILLIE
Looks like you've gotten all the bases for this whole grand plan of yours. Except for one bit.
Panel 3: Brie tilts their head to the side in puzzlement at the statement, doing the same type of action we saw Millie do in the previous panel; their eyebrow raised in intrigue connected to their response.
BRIE
What?
Panel 4: In the standing position, we see the young woman come back with a charming smile and playfulness connected to her response.
MILLIE
A "Goodbye to 2100" party, of course!
Panel 5: Same setting/layout as Panel 3. The young person develops a bit of a thousand yard stare pondering Millie's version of a party in their head.
MILLIE
(Off-Panel) Don't worry, bud! It'll be the kind of party you'd actually wanna spend more than 5 minutes at...
