Daylight Saving, Issue 1: Part 3.3

Page 17

Panel 1: We move to a little later on in the day, after work, at a kind of "Theatre in the Park" (sans Park) type of setup in the center of town. You can see part of a stage in the distance of the shot, built and ready for the show to come.

(Cont., Millie)

"The missus cued me in on one of those outdoor 'Absurdist Mash-Ups' things from the 2030s you love."

Panel 2: Close-up on the pair of them, dressed in casual clothes, getting a pair of programs from the usher after paying for tickets. You can see a smattering of other citizens in the background heading to their respective seats.

BRIE

(half grin, reading the program) "Sorkimon: A Dry, 'Smart,' Revue"...I always thought the show was an urban myth.

MILLIE

June found it six months ago from a friend of hers in Restoration. She'd spent half that time trying to convince the Council to stage it. She probably would have burned G-City to the ground if they gave her the thumbs down, so...

BRIE

(Bubble 2) Haha...they're doing the "Bartlet Suite"?! Amazing!

Panel 3: Millie spots something interesting off-panel left a few moments later that catches her eye. You can see the lower half of her body start shifting toward that direction as she speaks.

MILLIE

Speaking of amazing- vodwine! I'll be a few. You're good for finding our spot, right?

BRIE

(nods) Better bring back a basket of french fries, too.

MILLIE

(Bubble 2) No doy!

Panel 4: We see the two of them seated in the middle of the audience a short time into the show, enjoying things along with the few dozen others watching around them.

BRIE

(thought bubble)

I still trust the Burnham will work, without a doubt. If it doesn't though...this isn't a bad way to go! Best friend with me, outside in the best city in this broken shell of a world- good food in my stomach.

Panel 5: Cut to a shot of the stage, showing the women playing Toby Ziegler and George Schneider in loving embrace and singing a romantic song.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"Watching one of the most brilliantly weird pieces of art I've ever seen in my life..."

Panel 6: A snapshot of the audience enjoying the scene with smiles and laughs as well as various food bits they had ordered from the food stalls partly visible in the top right of the panel.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"Alongside a few hundred other souls sharing in the same experience. It's time like this that I'll absolutely miss."

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"Whatever changes I end up making, I really hope this kind of pure bliss and community remains in the end result. "

Panel 1: In a similar type of layout, we see the crowd watching "History of the World Part I" on an outdoor screen. But instead of basking underneath halogen light, they're underneath a setting sun and the dark blue of a setting sun.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"That there are still people watching classic movies, but now under gleaming sunshine and not artificial halogen lights."

Panel 2: In a separate part of the city, we see a construction crew doing repairs on an apartment building using a bevy of future construction tech we can only dream of now. You can see a snapshot of other beautiful, similarly sleek and futuristic looking buildings in the background.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"That there are still people laughing, loving, gazing at the future with the fires of hope rather than fear and nihilistic submission."

Panel 3: Cut to a wide shot of the city skyline, gleaming with the many gorgeous colors of the setting sun in the background; the full scope of the beautiful balance between nature and Tech weaved within every inch of the skyscrapers, as well as some of the houses.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"That the great lesson of peace and common unity can become to all of humankind as basic and ironclad true as the vitality of oxygen and water to survival. Or to the laws of gravity."

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"Some might say I'm grasping for the Sun in this thought, and it'd be hard to blame them."

Panel 4: Back to a shot of Brie's face at the revue, flashing a pleased grin a beat after laughing at a particular moment in the show that came earlier.

BRIE

(thought bubble) But I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't believe all of that with all of my soul.

Panel 5: Later that night, after the fun and frivolity behind "Sorkimon," Mx. Benoit steps back into their apartment and tosses the purses onto the floor.

Caption

(Cont., Brie)

"I'll always love you, Gerwig City! Here goes a better normal..."
