Daylight Saving, Issue 2: Part 1.3
Page 29
Panel 1: The following morning, Mx. Benoit is eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes for breakfast and watching TV. On one side is a flip cell phone, and on the other is the phone book for the city of Los Angeles.
Caption
(Cont., Brie)
"In handling column, I might get lucky to get column B too."
Panel 2: After crunching on a spoonful of the food, the young person turns their attention to the phone book.
Panel 3: They flip through the names on the pages super quick a few minutes after swallowing the bit of food.
BRIE
(scrunched face thought) Hmm...plenty of theatres to choose from. Would be nice if there was a description of what topics each one focused on.
(Bubble 2) Might as well go through methodically. See if it works that way.
Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Brie stops flipping the individual pages; their finger touching an unseen part of the book.
Panel 5: Close-up on the N's part of the theatre section a short time later. In the lower middle part of the page, you can see a couple of individual theatre names pop up.
Panel 6: A little bit closer, Brie hovers around one of those D names in question: New Dreamland Theatre.

Panel 1: A few moments later, after having typed the number in, Brie patiently waits as the phone starts ringing on the other end.
BRIE
(thought bubble) I wonder if there are stories of people who beat their phones to bits. The amount of waiting involved between calls--would make a lot of sense to me.
Panel 2: A voice pipes in another second later, taking Mx. Benoit away from the ponderous mode of the previous panel.
RECEPTIONIST
(from the receiver) New Dreamland Theatre, this is Chelsea. How can I help you?
BRIE
Hi, my name is Brie Benoit. I have a piece I'm looking to get out to the public. I'm not sure what the Submission process is, or what part of the season you're at. But I thought--
Panel 3: The young person's casual demeanor tightens considerably upon hearing the Receptionist's response.
RECEPTIONIST
(interjecting, from the receiver) I'm sorry, miss, but we do not take unsolicited projects. Get representation, and set whatever project you have through them.
BRIE
Actually, I'm--I'm not female or male. I'm gender nonconforming. I go by Mx, like Mix--
Panel 4: The phone clicks off on the other end before Mx. Benoit could get out the rest of their explanation.
BRIE
(taken aback) Wow, that was kinda rude...! Maybe I just caught her on a bad day.
Panel 5: Action shot of Brie placing the phone back down on the table; their other hand reaching back over toward the phone book to try again.
BRIE
(slight shrug, looking on the bright side) The representation stuff's not a bad idea though.
