Daylight Saving, Issue 3: Part 2.1

Panel 1: A short time later, at Kym's cubicle, she dials the phone number from the business card. You can see a little cross-section of the fairly basic office space in the background behind her.
Caption
(Cont., Dina)
"Outside of hitting up the Social Security office, she's the best source to settle that answer."
Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous, a few moments later. As the person on the other line- KELLY- picks up, you can see Ms. Clarkson leaning back slightly.
KELLY
(from the receiver) Hello?
KYM
Hi, this is Kym Clarkson, Dina's friend.
KELLY
(Bubble 2) Oh, hey- D told me you'd be calling! What can I do for ya?
KYM
(Bubble 2) I'm looking for the contact info in L.A. County for someone- Brie Benoit.
Panel 3: Cut to a shot of KELLY at her office a second later, letting out a quick knowing chuckle over the request.
KELLY
You and a few thousand reporters since the 3rd Quarter...!
KYM
(from the receiver) I figured as much.
Panel 4: Kym straightens out slightly at the comment; her face shifting to a look of curiosity and partial worry at the possible subtext.
KYM
(Cont.) I'm gonna guess any of those reporters whipped out their checkbooks after you told 'em.
KELLY
(from the receiver) They did. It didn't make a great difference though.
KYM
(Bubble 2) Why?
Panel 5: Back to a shot of Kelly in the same setting/layout as Panel 3, shifting slightly in her chair as she speaks.
KELLY
(Cont., explanatory) First 'cause the info didn't technically exist in our database. Then, when a number and address popped up a few weeks ago, I kept it secret 'cause I actually believed in what they preached in that video.
Panel 6: Action shot of Kym reaching out with her spare left hand to a drawer in order to grab a pen and pad.
KELLY
(Cont., from the receiver) And you won't have to whip out your checkbook to get it, just so long as you'll use it for that righteous good.
KYM
You have my word. What's the address?

Panel 1: We see an exterior shot of the apartment building in Century City where our protagonist is calling home at this time.
Caption
(Kelly)
"...5000 S. Beverly Glen Blvd., Century City. The place is called Glen Arbor Villas."
Panel 2: Close-up on the porch of Brie's apartment, just as they're looking out and up at the night sky in thought.
BRIE
(thought bubble) A lot of what I read in school talked about how the stars that people on old Earth saw were actually long dead worlds and galaxies. Then I started building the Burnham, and I realized...what if some of them were parallel universes?
Panel 3: A little snapshot of the pretty, clear starry sky that Mx. Benoit is seeing at this particular point...
Caption
(Cont. Brie, thought bubble)
"I know all that's a bit silly. But it's a nice comfort, thinking an alternate version of me is looking at the same set of stars (without the burnt oak smell)."
Caption
(Cont. Brie, thought bubble)
"Hell, it's possible one of my moms cousins is looking at these stars right now. Probably a lot less rambly than I am right now--"
Panel 4: ...before we return to the same setting/layout as Panel 2. Their train of thought is interrupted by a familiar sound from off-panel, sparking a jolt of anxiety in the young person.
ANYA
(Off-Panel)
My sweet jewel...!
Panel 5: Action shot of Brie running back inside the apartment in the direction of Kayla watching the holographic image of their mom as it pops up from their device.
ANYA
(Cont.) May this be the day we come together...
BRIE
(desperate) DEACTIVATE!
Panel 6: Kayla is jolted slightly by the cry and the loud thumping, immediately looking for answers from her partner (standing to the right of the panel).
KAYLA
(startled) Whoa, whoa! I didn't know this was one of your future things.
BRIE
(catching their breath, apologetic) Sorry for screaming like that. It's just...
KAYLA
(Bubble 2, over top) It's okay, no need. That was one of your moms I'm guessing.
BRIE
(Bubble 2) ...Yeah.
