BRIE

(hopeful)

It's possible. He didn't strike me as someone who easily gives up on something. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if it got him and Mr. Yancy to start talking about an agreement in private. 

KAYLA

Right. You set to talk to this Jianyu guy again?

Panel 3: Close-up on Mx. Benoit, shaking their head and raising their milkshake to their lips for a sip.

BRIE

We didn't talk about a day, no. All he said was that he'd get in touch the moment he gets an answer.

Panel 4: Ms. Noor is a bit concerned by the answer, chewing on a scoop of sundae they bit into in the middle of the previous panel.

KAYLA

Not exactly the greatest omen, honey.

Panel 5: Back to Brie with a sense of optimism to counter their partner's previous point; the glass dropping back to the table post-sip. You can see the sound effect of a ringing phone from the young person's cell phone as they speak.

BRIE

It's okay. I've developed a well honed sense of patience in life. This is nothing...

Panel 6: A few moments later, we see the young person checking out the message in question. It's from Faris asking, "How'd that 'freelance' thing with the dude from the Chinese delegation work out?"

Panel 1: Brie quickly types back a response a few moments later- "Too early to know, but...hopeful it'll end well." 

KAYLA

Is that lil’ Reese? Tell her I say hi.

BRIE

(slight smile)

I will...

Panel 2: Mx. Benoit looks back up from the phone a beat after sending off the respective text courtesy of a call from a passing local.

CITIZEN

(Off-Panel)

Oh my God, it's Brie!

Panel 3: Cut to a shot of the locals a few feet from the couple: a pair of queer kids- NADIA and RACHEL, wrapped in nerdy energy as they speak.

NADIA

(Cont.)

Your speech at the Earth Day protest was--

RACHEL

(interjecting)

--I loved the Rolling Stone article. I--

NADIA

(Bubble 2)

I wish you were running for President in America instead of those two asshats--

Panel 4: Close-up on Rachel a beat later, with an interesting anecdote that stands out.

RACHEL

My cousin who lives in Miami actually plans to vote for Al Gore, thanks to you.

Panel 5: Overwhelmed by the stacked, onslaught of goodwill being thrown their way, the young person can only nod at it all- especially that final bit.

BRIE

Thank you so much.

Panel 6: Back to Nadia a beat later with an interesting question that cuts through the positive vibes of the moment.

NADIA
