Daylight Saving, Issue 6: Part 3.2

Page 140

Panel 1: Back to a shot of Nathan and Mx. Benoit in the front of the room, looking at the aide as they finish the rest of the news. You can see a newsreader on the TV moving on to another story.

AIDE

(Cont., Off-Panel)

Panel 2: He wants to squeeze in a quick pre-speech photo-op, and last chat about one of the points you guys discussed.

NATHAN

(surprised chuckle, standing up)

Seriously? That’s a…they mention which point’s got his interest?

Panel 3: We move back to the Aide, giving a quick nod as he gives the next bit of information.

AIDE

One of Mx. Benoit's proposals: the G-Institute. There was also something about fuel standards that…

Panel 4: Brie looks on in joyous surprise at the development, represented as well by an era specific emoji showing amazement. You can see the same level of shock in the veteran Nathan's eyes as well.

Panel 5: The latter turns toward the now grinning young person a beat later, seeking to put some cold water on what he feels is a silent tone of braggadocio.

NATHAN

You got lucky. Remember that!

BRIE

Don't worry, I'll stay well out of the way in case there actually are cameras.

Panel 6: We move to a shot of a seemingly empty street corner a mile from the convention hall.

"Be nice to do some more...touristy stuff with the time I got left."

Panel 1: Focused on an empty bit of street is the sound of a deep baseline similar to what would become "Teenagers" by My Chemical Romance a little over a decade later.

Panel 2: The first formation of an all-black protest starts to appear along that same street, led by the pair of girls we saw earlier in the issue; Nadia on Base, and Rachel doing vocals.

RACHEL

(singing)

They wanna keep us entombed                 With the Beaver and crew

To make us what they are now

NADIA

(singing)

Touting God and Apple pie             Screaming, “We’ll never die!”

What was is what will always be

Panel 3: We go a little wider to catch more of the protest crowd, including Falis and Gina singing along to the crowd. You can see the same yellow glow a few issues ago emanating from sections of the people in the audience, representing their fates changing for the better.

CROWD

(singing)

But with each passing day

The noise is fading away

In the rise of a Better Normal

Now the youth of this world

This Black Parade

Is ready to do what you fucking could not do what you should done.

You may think that...

Panel 4: Cut to a shot of a similar wide perspective protest months from now in Paris; the crowd just as large, and also decked out in black, along with the same glow in points as the previous panel.

CROWD #2

(singing)

We'll give up, like all the others our age  Retreat into greed

And useless “Woe is Me...”

Panel 5: We move to another similarly framed shot of another protest years later in Sydney; the crowd larger than the other two put together, and filled with the same yellow glow and more black and brown faces than in the previous pair of panels.

CROWD #3

But this ain’t your grandpa’s millennium!

Panel 6: At the same time as the previous panel, we see another protest taking place in downtown Los Angeles; a wide, ever encompassing sea of black.

CROWD #4

The Gashats…

(Brie)

"That was incredible..."
