Old Scars, Chapter 2: Part 1.1
Page 25 Panel 1: We open a few days later back at Miriam's tent in the Delhi camp. Grem is standing in front of a hot plate, cooking scrambled eggs on a pan.
MIRIAM
(Off-Panel) You sure you're healthy enough to fly back tonight?
GREM
(nods) I'm quite sure. My head feels back to normal, I haven't had a blackout as bad as the one at the cafe a few days back.
Panel 2: Back to the mecha at the table, going over a bunch of documents in a folder. You can see the copy of a newspaper resting in the lower left edge of the panel.
MIRIAM
(concerned) True, but we still don't know much about the mystery woman from your vision, or the disappearing airship. It--It seems like a particularly dangerous strategy to leave that dangling.
Panel 3: Action shot of Mr. Allen sliding the finished eggs onto a plate placed next to the pan from Panel 1. He flashes a half grin that's connected to a look of agreement on his face as he speaks.
GREM
M, I've been racking my brain on both counts every spare mo since that night to no avail. If and when I find it, I'll loop ya in.
Panel 4: We move to another action shot of him- plate gripped in left hand- moving to the table in order to eat. You can see Miriam flipping over to another page; her periphery peeled on her friend.
GREM
(Cont.) Till then, I focus on the stuff I can solve: like scrambled eggs, or burgeoning revolutions.
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of Miriam taking her first cursory glance of the newsprint. You can see her metal eyes roll at the last statement.
MIRIAM
(correcting) The assistance is appreciated. Don't expect that you'll be the final piece that guarantees its success...
GREM
(Off-Panel) Of course I don't!
Panel 6: Back to Mr. Allen taking a seat on a chair next to her friend. For the first time, we see part of a fork on the plate next to the food.
GREM
(Cont., defensive) I'm referring to my...experience back in Ireland against the British.
Page 26
Panel 1: Back to Miriam a few moments later, sparked by a question that pops up at the last word of Grem's line in the previous page.
MIRIAM
I remember. Didn't a lot of people end up dying then?
Panel 2: We move back to Grem scooping up a forkful of the eggs as he replies with a casual nod.
GREM
Sadly, yes. But we ended up paving the way toward the War for Independence and the Anglo-Irish Treaty, soo..
Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. He slips the eggs into his mouth a few moments later, and starts chewing.
GREM
(Cont., mid-chew) Besides- with the organization you've built, it could be beneficial...
Panel 4: A short time later, the immortal Irishman reaches over to the newspaper to read it. You can see Miriam's assistant in the shot, whispering something to her.
GREM
(curious, swallowing) Council stuff?
Panel 5: Slight close-up on Miriam a beat later, responding truthfully to the question as she pushes her chair back prior to standing up.
MIRIAM
Kind of. Nothing that shouldn't take too long, I think.
GREM
(Off-Panel) Alright...
