Old Scars, Chapter 3: Part 4.1
Page 67 Panel 1: We move to a shot of T's face, tilting their head to the side in partial agreement to the phrase going into their explanation.
T
Actually, I'm 01-1-1-10_01-1-1: part human, part mecha.
T
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1) That's hardly the biggest surprise. We're barely 1% of the global mech population.
Panel 2: Grem looks on with a degree of fascination at the term that shows on his face as he's speaking.
GREM
A Dual Bay? I've heard stories about them. Never met one in person before though.
Panel 3: A shot of the pair a beat later. We see the immortal Irishman turn his head slightly toward T with another question that pops in his head.
GREM
If I remember correctly, 01-1-1-10_01-1-1s don't subscribe to human pronouns.
T
(nods)
I go by Mx/Them.
GREM
(Bubble 2) I'll keep all that in proper mind. On a separate note...
Panel 4: Slight close-up on the two a beat later. He looks out to another spot in the store; his mind going back to what originally brought him in there.
GREM
(Cont.) Your fine store sell any kind of nibbles? I haven't eaten a proper meal in days, and could use the energy boost.
T
(knowing) I got just the thing.
Panel 5: T swoops over to another part of the store, and snags a bag in the middle of the rack. They then...
Panel 6: ...return to the same spot as in Panel 4, handing Grem a couple of bars of Frazer Blue chocolate.
T
(suggesting)
Frazer bars: worlds better than anything Hershey's does. It's not a proper meal, but just as bloody good in my view.
GREM
(looking at the chocolates, slight nod) High praise...!
T
(Bubble 2) So. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're here for that "Ghost Rocket" nonsense.
Panel 7: Close-up a moment after Mr. Allen grabs the pair of bars as he speaks in the same hand as the newspaper.
GREM
That was plan. I had some troubles with my airship though, which led me back to Helsinki for the first time in ages. I could use the ride, if you happen to be heading that way.
Page 68
Panel 1: T chimes in with a mark of excitement at this point; a bright smile personifying this particular point.
T
Isn't that a funny stroke of luck? I was just about to pop up to Oulu. There's a nice market in 1-00-1-10-1-1- or Utopia, in English- for a new ADU. I've been in need of it for quite awhile, and last night's Lohiketto kinda made it urgent.
Panel 2: Grem flashes a half-grin, relieved and thrilled for the fortunate development.
GREM
Fantastic! All I gotta do is a wee bit of tweaking on my ride, and we can jet to Oulu by nightfall.
Panel 3: We see T's demeanor immediately tense up upon hearing the insinuation of flight from Mr. Allen's previous statement.
T
(shakes their head quickly) No flying, please! I--I got a thing when it comes to flying.
Panel 4: The immortal Irishman shifts toward an entirely sympathetic tone on his face in terms of his reply, taking a step toward them.
GREM
Oh. Apologies, Mx. Didn't mean to spook ya. Be happy to head up with whatever ride you have.
Panel 5: T loosens up slightly and flashes a slight grin at the note of sympathy.
T
No worries. I happen to be proud of my little baby.
Panel 6: We see the two of them at closing a short time later, walking toward T's car: an impressive car that skews between a Saab sedan and the Nolan-era Batmobile.
T
(Cont., proudly) I proudly present- the Timmi!
GREM
Timmi?
T
(Bubble 2) No real meaning behind it...just thought the name sounded cool.
GREM
(Bubble 2) You're not wrong there...!
