Old Scars, Chapter 6: Part 2.2

Page 131 Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that starts out with him flinging the ball up with the base of his stick; his body, meanwhile, just beginning to rise to the same position above Big Ugly.

Panel 2: In the second part, Grem lets loose a shot big enough to shake one's teeth. You can see Big Ugly's head looking up at him, struggling in vain to mount a challenge.

Panel 3: The ball finds the back of the net in the top left corner with authority; the goalkeeper diving underneath, nowhere close to affecting it. You can see in the opposite corner the updated score: "Team Grem 4, Team Louhi 3."

Panel 4: Mr. Allen lands a few feet away to the cheers and backpats of his teammates. You can see a glint of hope and momentum in his eyes as he speaks.

GREM

Okay. Time to win this...!

Panel 5: Cut to Louhi looking on with displeasure at the development; her mind already coming up with the proper counter.

LOUHI

Okay. Time to end this...!

Panel 1: On the counter, we see a pair of people from Grem's team charging at the one from Louhi's team (holding the ball) as they get ready to go to goal.

Panel 2: In the blink of a proverbial eye, the defenders are stopped by rising pillars of land; the offensive player led up between the pair via a convenient, well paved road. On the right, we see the score: "Team Louhi 5, Team Grem 4."

"Ah, hell...!"

Panel 3: Back in the shelter in Oulu, T looks at the arm display with some worry at what they're seeing. You can see Timmo standing over the young person's shoulder with some curiosity and worry.

TIMMO

What's wrong?

T

One of the manimals knocked out the Timmi's auto-drive a few miles outside town. I'll have to go out on foot to retrieve it.

TIMMO

(Bubble 2) You named your ride "Timmi?" Aww! I've never been named for an automobile before.

T

(Bubble 2) Actually, I named it after my old cat from childhood.

TIMMO

(Bubble 2) Ahh...still an honor.

Panel 4: Slight close-up on Timmo's warm mechanical face when, a few moments later, a bright idea pops into his head.

TIMMO

(Cont.) I may have a way to expedite your travel a bit, if you're a fan of catapults.

Panel 5: T's eyes widened at the prospect brought to them at that moment, manifested in an invisible energy permeating upward and forming a single world: "GULP...!"

Panel 6: A short time later, we see them seated and strapped onto the middle of a catapult that Timmo had kept. You can see the mechanical man at the controls to the right of the panel view.

T

(turns their head to Timmo) How many times have you used this contraption?

TIMMO

Dozens of times, with cargo. You are the first with a pulse, however. Should make for some fun experimentation.

T

(Bubble 2) Wait, wha...
