The Boo-Ya!, Season 2- Issue 1: Part 2.2
Page 9
9.1: Frazzled (for them) by the comment, Staehlia takes a few steps away from the lock at the door to respond. As this goes on, in the background, Mani rares back as best as she can in preparation to charge at the door herself.
STAEHLIA
(Cont., with reddened cheeks)
First off, she is not my lady fair. If we–we ever got to that level, it’d be–the proper term would be Groonsma. And secondly, I should be finished relatively soon–
9.2: Their statement is interrupted a beat later by Mani body checking the door open; the resulting sound masking the sound of metal and blasters coming from the Madam’s end as well as the alarm.
9.3: As the Titanian woman is proudly bowing off-panel, we see Staehlia smirking lovingly at the whole display, with their comm just below their face. You can see the same type of clangs and blaster noises more prominently here compared to the previous panel, which mute to them the sound of boots moving toward their position.
STAEHLIA
(Cont.)
And by soon…I mean now!
MADAM
(above the noise on the comm)
Grand! I’d understand if you guys wanna a long, reuniting smooch. But any time you wanna pop here in the next halb-horut would be great.
STAEHLIA
(Bubble 2) Agreed. It should be no more than ten minuyats to get there, give or take the division of guards–
9.4: Suddenly, the sound of boots from the soldiers (as well as Mani’s prodding) turns the young person’s attention toward the antagonists and the plan to beat them.
STAEHLIA
(Cont.)
Scratch that…! Actually, it might be longer.
MADAM
(through the comm)
Of course it will. Let me talk to Ness, and engage in a bit of badassery.
STAEHLIA
(Bubble 2)
Okay…
9.5: A series of action shots over a few minutes of the two of them doing their very best to fight back against the half-dozen armed guards, using their respective weapons.
9.6: There’s a sense of hope that comes with our Titanian antagonists for the briefest of times, before, after Staehlia is slammed to a wall…
9.7: …Mani is taken down moments later. Off-panel to the right, there’s a light blue glow that grows in prominence around the same area the respective guard is. The source of it becomes far more prominent once…
Page 10
10.1: …The Madam pops in, slicing up the soldier moments before they were set to kill the pair. You can see Robin standing to the left, bruised and sore after her fight earlier.
MADAM
(smirks)
Too much?
STAEHLIA
(Off-Panel) For most, probably. For you…a bit normal.
MADAM (Bubble 2)
Haha…
ROBIN
Ness says hi, by the way.
10.2: Action shot of the group moments later, ‘porting out of the prison and back to the friendly confines of the ship.
ROBIN
(Caption) O’Julana? I remember seeing some little fluff story on the news a little while back. They’re the big Amazon planet, right?
STAEHLIA
(Caption) In a sense, yeah…
10.3: Back aboard the Boo-Ya!, in a crew meeting room, the Madam and Staehlia are standing side-by-side as they’re describing the situation; an image of the planet projected in the background.
MADAM
They’re more of a collective, pacifist-type society with a majority female and female-presenting population. They have a tri-Monarchical system, which isn’t great. But they also have a communal civilian government underneath that and an impressive militia at their disposal, which balances it out in a way..
STAEHLIA
O’Julana fought the Alliance to a standstill back in the late-Aiktiab era. They ended up sparking the revolution on Capitol a short time later, not to mention some bitter drama among the TA faithful that lasts to the present.
MADAM (Bubble 2)
Yeah. It’d take a hells of a lot for them to wanna seek out others for defensive help.
STAEHLIA
(Bubble 2)
They actually told me the precise reason before it all went south: the Roejacks Accord.
10.4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Staehlia takes more of the lead in the discussion, shifting the image in the background to a file footage of the monarch of O’Julana and the Prime Chancellor at the time Ianna 5-Nine.
MADAM (Off-Panel) You’re certain she was on the up and up?
STAEHLIA
(Cont.)
100%. She talked about this critical source they had on Mowannis Prime- Sayenne- who was holding TA plans to obliterate the Accord and fully occupy the planet in the very near future. It would be logical, in my view, to at least check it out and see what we can brings to the table.
10.5: Cut to a shot of Nessa at the front edge of the table, sighing with a measure of skepticism at the plan along with questions of her own. You can see Capaldi seated next to her, taking in the conversation all the while.
NESSA
Oh, I can think of a pretty big votbett’n one: a cushy prison cell for every one of us in this room.
CAPALDI
Except for me, though I would miss every one of you for the remainder of your term if I’m honest.
NESSA
(Bubble 2)
So we would, Cap. Still leaves the big question- how do we make sure this is legit, and not some type of weird TA plot?
10.6: Staehlia tosses the folded up note toward their colleague, containing the information the royal intelligence officer gave them.
STAEHLIA
She left me the address for the would-be informant who could corroborate her story, show what we need to do. We drop down and check it out, Capaldi drops in with the big boom if things go bad. That work for you?
NESSA
(Off-Panel)
Eh, I can work with it.
