The Boo-Ya!, Season 2- Issue 2: Part 1.3

Page 5

5.1: Close-up on Staehlia and Robin walking across a piece of grassland that starts to show up more prominently compared to the trees before. You can see the nerves bubbling up in the young human woman, even through the helmet, as she moves toward the whole point.

ROBIN

(Cont.)

It was right when you were in the ship’s skelin, fixing up Capaldi and the Regen. I was trying to grab that ⅔ Goucheemu you buzzed back down, and I–I’m pretty sure I started to…“float.”

STAEHLIA

(theorizing) Huh…Could be just an effect your body is having due to the gravity of the planet?

ROBIN

(Bubble 2) Well, when I say “floating,” I…I’m talking more about a different kind of floating.

5.2: The meaning of float starts to dawn on the Titanian a beat later, triggering a change in their thought process.

ROBIN

(Cont., Off-Panel)

Yeah…didn’t peg today as the day I feel like bloody Superman. I haven’t felt this terrified and geeky since the day I officially tagged up with you guys.

5.3: Cut to a similarly framed close-up on Ms. Cartwright mid-stride, finally gathering enough courage to ask the main question that’s been bubbling inside all this time.

ROBIN

(Cont.) I was wondering if there was some way the ship’s Holodeck could be used to test out what else is going on in my body, after all this goes. Just to see whether this is real, or–or just something in my head.

ROBIN (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1)

Understood, mate. Ta!

5.4: Back to Staehlia after a few more beats of thought, chiming in with a casual curiosity that comes across their face as they speak.

STAEHLIA

I will start to piece a plan of study once we are in flight, though it may take some time once balanced with my nightly messages to Mani.

STAEHLIA

(Bubble 2; reacting To Panel 3, Bubble 2)

On a slightly separate note: would it not make sense to loop in the rest of the crew to this development?

5.5: Robin tilts her head to the side nervously at the prospect. There’s the sound of a THUNK that comes in from off-panel right which remains unacknowledged by the two of them, belonging to some type of mystery cruiser that has stopped a short distance away.

ROBIN

I know I should. But I’d rather wait till I know it’s something to worry about, especially given all this spycraft we’re dealing with.

5.6: We move to a shot of the source of that THUNK from the previous panel- a military-style cruiser driven by a pair of officers with their weapons trained at our pair of protagonists.

OFFICER

Gefluunaxe Continental Brigade, FREEZE!

MADAM

(Caption) A nature preserve…explains why there wasn’t a big body count when we crashed.

6.1: We move to a shot of Nessa and the Madam standing with their backs to the reader, staring at a section of a much larger force field that lies at the border 50 Earth feet from their respective position.

NESSA Looks like there’s a lookout tower behind that force field. Pretty good place to sig the others where we’re at.

MADAM Good idea. It’d take a hells of a lot to get their attention though, or draw unwanted attention if they’re in trouble. Not to mention whatever outward defenses they might have ready for us.

NESSA

(Bubble 2)

True, true…I got a way to test that last part out though.

6.2: A two-part set of panels, with the bulk of action focused on Nessa’s end. In the first part, moments later, we see her raising a medium-sized revolver straight up into the air in preparation to fire.

6.3: In the second part, the resulting blast bursts from the gun and trails off in the direction of the energy wall right up to its rather lifeless THUMP.

6.4: Close-up on the two ladies a few moments later, watching the lack of any response as a result of the action.

NESSA

(on the positive side) Not a lot of laser spread in front of it.

MADAM

(side nod)

Yeah, just a wall harder than L’Lanian bieel. Maybe the others are having better luck…

ROBIN

(crackling, from Madam’s comm)

Cap’n–! Cap, you…?

6.5: The good cap’n turns with her comm in hand, trying her best to get a signal and hear the full message from her fellow crewmate; all coming back in response is crackling and thumping sounds, like two fists. You can see Nessa in the background, listening in as well.

MADAM

Robin? What’s going on? You find any scrap of civilization on your end?

ROBIN (from the comm)

Well…In a sense, yeah, but–

MADAM (Bubble 2)

Where are you guys?

6.6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The signal from the Madam’s end suddenly goes silent. In the background, you can see Nessa reaching to her side to grab her comm, inspired by a sudden idea.

MADAM

(under her breath) Shite…!
