The Boo-Ya!, Season 2- Issue 4: Part 4.2
Page 21
21.1: Just as she opens the door, Capaldi pops up in the panel left area to the good captain’s annoyance.
CAPALDI
(apologetic)
Sorry, cap’n. I know you were itching for some DDS’in time right now, especially given the past few weatts. But–
MADAM
All’s good, duda. I can assume, with the threat of harm to your hardware I leveled to you just a few short minuyats ago, that it’s–
CAPALDI
(Bubble 2) Urgent? It is, aye…
21.2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Time freezes right at that second, and the A.I. companion turns his attention toward the reader to address them for a brief bit.
CAPALDI (Cont. 4Meta, to the reader) Before you start theorizing, dear read, it’s got nothin’ to do with Robin. She’s back in her room snoozing up an absolute (well-earned imo) storm after what happened on 59-Kelvin. And Stahl’s in her happy place in the lab, tweaking some tech before Mani buzzes and they engage in some overdue holosnuggling a wee later. This is- well…
21.3: Capaldi turns back toward the good captain a beat later, as the flow of time resumes, to tell her and the reader the answer.
CAPALDI
…You should check out Capitol News Service.
21.4: Madam groans, spotting the low level of doom lying underneath those six words from the previous panel.
MADAM
(glancing up to the ceiling)
Yeah, nothing good’s ever come outta that sentence…!
(Bubble 2)
Ness?
NESSA
(from the comm) Yeah?
MADAM (Bubble 3)
Meet me in my Quarters for a bit.
21.5: Nessa, chilling on the bridge at the wheel, raises a curious yet agreeing eyebrow at the request.
NESSA
Okay. Wanna loop in Robbo, too?
MADAM (from the ceiling comm) Nah, let her sleep. She’s been through the bruiser enough–she could use it.
NESSA (Bubble 2)
Agreed. So, what the hells is this urgent thing you want me to see?
CAPALDI (from the ceiling comm)
I’ll fill ya in when you come by.
21.6: Cut to a shot of an HV screen inside the Madam’s quarters a short time later. We see a newsreader speaking indiscriminately to the viewer; underneath, in the chyron, is the story they’re talking about at this point- “The Boo-Ya! Destroyed During O’J Military Incursion, All Assumed Dead.” “W-4 Clan to Be Activated to O’Julana Front Tomorrow.”
NESSA
(Off-Panel)
Never been claimed to be deadzo before…kinda cool.
Page 22
22.1: Cut to Madam and Nessa watching the screen a few steps away. Capaldi is also visible next to Nessa in the panel right area, reciting the gist from a window he’s holding in his left hand.
CAPALDI
(worried) These W-4 peeps are a worry though. They’re the type of peeps capable of crushing dissent in some of the edge worlds of the Alliance, including that dudo from Rhombuh a little while back. It’s part of a list of shite problems, alongside the “planet killing” weapon Robin spotted, that’s becoming a pain in the arse to sift through.
NESSA
(slight nod, into curiosity)
Yeah. I’m a bit confused why the hells, if the W-4 Clan’s that badarsed, the Alliance haven’t used these guys already here?
CAPALDI (Bubble 2)
Intimidation and little view of their enemy, I’d guess–normal authoritarian crap. On the plus side, given that they’re saying we’re deadzo, we have the capability to really do some interesting biz in the course of this war, outside of arms and supply runs.
MADAM Agreed…!
22.2: Slight close-up on Madam and Nessa alone a beat later; the good cap’n going into the rest of her thoughts from the previous panel.
MADAM (Cont.)
Not that I want us to stop those arms and supply runs now. We’ve done a lotta good with them so far. But there was always that threat hanging above us the Alliance would spot us and chuck us in prison- or worse. Now, that that’s gone–
NESSA (interjecting)
We can start having our version of fun here.
MADAM
(Bubble 2)
Precisely! Get in touch with some of those Armada peeps you’ve been buddy buddy with, and…
22.3: Slight close-up on the Madam looking over at the A.I. companion a beat later; an idea suddenly popping into her mind.
MADAM (Cont.) What was the name of that fun Intel chica Robin’s been tagging along with lately?
22.4: Nessa glances over at the captain a beat later, following a step behind as she plays the thought out.
NESSA Lady Jerniev. I dig her too, but I’m not sure what good she’d bring us. I mean, we’re already pretty good for brains with Stahl.
MADAM (Bubble 2) Not in that fashion. I’m just playing around with a buncha ideas at the mo, a buncha names…
22.5: Meanwhile, at the still rebuilding Intel station minutes later, we see Lady Jerniev in her office reacting to the plan as given by the Madam with a mixture of surprise and respect for it overall.
MADAM (Cont., Caption) A little “Fire with Fire,” as Robin sometimes blathers on during hokun games.
LADY JERNIEV
Do you guys have a qua-kon for suicide missions, or is that just a coincidence?
