The Boo-Ya!, Season 2- Issue 5: Part 3.2

Page 15

15.1: Staehlia looks up from the bomba’s circuitry a few moments later with the same expression of a surgeon deeply in work.

STAEHLIA (Cont.) Bring me the j-Cgroon…it should be in the far lebt end of my pack.

CAPALDI (Off-Panel) I see it.

15.2: The AI companion hands the tool to the genius young person, who’s returned their focus back to the bomba’s circuitry.

STAEHLIA

(quick nod) Cheers!

15.3: Close-up on Capaldi as Staehlia resumes working, posing a question that has lingered within their digital brain.

CAPALDI

All this fighting– seems a shame we’ve never really gotten close to figuring out who hired the merc on Mowannis.

CAPALDI (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1)

What, you mean you’ve…?

15.4: Staehlia glances from their periphery at Capaldi as they work, engaging with a stoic curiosity.

STAEHLIA That is not entirely accurate.

STAEHLIA (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 3, Bubble 2)

Surmised their identity, yes. I was just finishing the run-through of the evidence before going the captain gave us this job…it is Vice Chancellor Brunnya!

15.5: Back to Capaldi with a look on his face on the balancing line between surprised and not surprised.

CAPALDI That’s a shock and…kinda not. I’m curious what brought ya to that conclusion.

15.6: Text box that lays out Staehlia’s hypothetical process, starting with a picture of a blast mark from Sayenne’s safe house which led to a type of blaster favored by a class of mercenary known as the Shiv. From there, it’s a matter of hacking their main organizational site and sifting through past payouts- one of which taking place right around the same time Sayenne left- which leads on to an encrypted account at the Vice Chancellor’s Capitol residence.

16.1: Back in the present, Capaldi nods along at the bulk of the explanation given; his digital mind chewing over a point that bubbles into play.

CAPALDI

All that drama over bloody deep ancient beef…definitely a thing uptight Capitol peeps would get fussy over–that and just plain assholes! Part of me’s thinking though there might be something else underneath all that fueling her motivations on O’Julana.

CAPALDI (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1)

Makes sense. Anyway, I’m gonna presume ya haven’t told the rest of the crew and just jump to askin’ when the hells you plan on telling them this uber important development.

16.2: Action shot of Staehlia on the other end of the conversation, firing back while keeping their focus on the work.

STAEHLIA I concur. I have part of a theory that may answer that question, but I need a little more time to properly test it, in case I inadvertently missed something.

STAEHLIA (Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 1, Bubble 2) My intention was to do after this mission, during the–hopefully long enough–gap in time that would precede the next life threatening mission…

16.3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The young person stops working a few brief moments later, satisfied by the bulk of the work in play.

STAEHLIA

(Cont.)

Dassabeu!

MADAM (from the comm) You ready on your end, Stahl? STAEHLIA (Bubble 2) Indeed, captain- just finished.

MADAM (Bubble 2, from the comm)

Bett’n good to hear, bud! Head back with Ness to the bridge ASAP…

16.4: Back on ground level, we see the Madam and W-r’Ren looking out at something in the distance; a small cross-section of a larger support group behind the pair in the background.

MADAM (Cont.) ‘Cause the proverbial show’s about to begin!

16.5: Cut to a shot of the distant hillside where we see the lumbering RAM-3 slowly moving with their guns slowly training toward the rebel group.

W-R’REN (Caption)

Sending the coordinates your way, Nessa.
