Page 9
9.1: The face of the TA Commander in charge of the mission on the ground on O’Julana BRIGGS pops up in full Alliance regalia. The Merc head salutes the superior officer with the most basic level of respect behind it.
COMMANDER BRIGGS Confirmation from MoD, Xrs. Hearn. Your team’s mission has changed- you’re to report to Delgin Weste by suns return.
9.2: Hearn lowers their hand back to their side a beat later, flashing a confused eyebrow at the command.
HEARN
Are they looping the elefantis? Let the TAssholes deal with that. We still have the Qualg, and the weapon below the compound–
9.3: Commander Briggs jumps in right on the top of Hearn’s questioning.
COMMANDER BRIGGS We’re on the verge of losing Delgin Weste, and the requisite supply line to the rest of the Army. We go south, that means you soulless flarking putzes aren’t far behind. Do I need to remind you about the clause in your respective contracts that ties your financial success to ours.
9.4: A two-part set of panels that moves back to the Merc head nodding along subserviently to the Commander, sparked by the threat to their pocketbooks as well as the rest of the others underneath it.
COMMANDER BRIGGS
(Cont., Off-Panel)
I can always get the Vice Chancellor on the horn, if you need a separate–
HEARN (interjecting) No. No, sir…I’ll send the order out.
9.5: In the second part, as the image fades at the end of the call, we see the real reaction from Hearn hidden behind the obedience and fear from the previous panel.
HEARN [SALTY EXPLETIVES USING LETTERS NOT DECIPHERABLE IN EARTH LANGUAGES]
9.6: Action shot of the Merc Head moments later, beginning to transmit the message to the others in the mercenary force.

10.1: Wide layout from above, showing the different layers of the compound; the message represented in a speedy green line, hitting a series of red dots belonging to the individual mercenaries receiving the command all at once. Through the display, it hits a single room to the right of the panel where Qualg Gray is being held…
10.2: …in that room, we briefly see the Qualg’s face glancing at the officer standing sentry over her body.
10.3: The string stretches out toward the bottom of the connected to Panel 1, heading out in the lower panel right direction toward the field nearby where it reaches the last few bodies to get the message.
10.4: Cut to the merc a split second later in the middle of the ongoing battle with our protagonists, reacting with a mixture of shock and anger at the command.
MERC You gotta be flarking me, boss!
MERC HEAD (Off-Panel, from the comm) I know. I’m not a fan of it, buzzztt–
10.5: A sizable explosion cuts across the scene a short distance from the Merc, sending them backward courtesy of the force it brings as well as bits of dirt and rock right at them.
