The Boo-Ya!, Season 2- Issue 9: Part 2.3

Page 11

11.1: Cut to Robin and Nessa a short distance from the sight of the blast; the latter holding a boomerang grenade that caused said explosion, returning to her left hand at the same time.

NESSA (glances at Robin, boastful grin) Told you it was a brilliant buy!

11.2: Fight scene involving our protagonists on the field a short time later; the outcome seemingly not going in their direction, especially as…

11.3: …one of the phaser blasts from one of the Mercs hits the Private square in the left side, sending them sprawling backward.

11.4: Ms. Cartwright rushes in a few moments later, quickly picking the soldier up with very little effort. You can see the light purple blood start to pull from their body at the same time.

ROBIN You okay? Or at least, okay enough to walk? TA PRIVATE (nods, pained)

That, yeah. It missed the vital bits, thankfully. Less so…it hit all the scream-y, pain-y bits like a bett’n Duufiid. Apologies…for not listening to you–‘bout the hiding bit.

ROBIN (Bubble 2)

Eh, you’re still alive though–that’s the important part. There’s a Med-Pack on the Jumper that should help that wound. I bolt now, I should be able to get it without drawing their attention–

NESSA (Off-Panel) No need, guys…

11.5: Cut to a shot of Nessa with a surprised look on her face as the contingent of surviving Mercs break off to a nearby transport and head skyward toward another battlefield.

NESSA (Cont.)

They’re apparently splitting and taking their toys with them.

ROBIN (Off-Panel) A good development, at least for us.

NESSA (Bubble 2) Yeah…

12.1: The three of them assemble a short time later as the ship takes off, contemplating the next move.

ROBIN

You think we should notify the O’J Army brass?

NESSA Nah, they’re gonna already spot it by the time we get them on the comm. Besides, this planet’s gotten pretty good at beating these arseholes back. No reason to think they won’t do the same with some piddling, bruised up little Merc contingent.

ROBIN (Bubble 2)

Fair point…

TA PRIVATE

(annoyed, in deeper pain)

All this is…nice and all! But…Med-Pack…please?!!

12.2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The lone change comes from Robin quickly leaping out of view in the panel right direction, rolling her eyes as she goes. As for Nessa, you can see her focus out to the compound in the distance; the boomerang grenade clicking onto her side, next to her regular weapon.

ROBIN Yeah, yeah…hold your bloody horses!

NESSA (thought bubble) I bash Robbo for her love of Ey-arth action movies. But right now, going up to rescue a captive Qualg…

12.3: Cut to the Qualg in her room, slowly but surely trying to loosen her binds amidst all of the sturm und drang outside. In the top of the panel view, you can see a collection of musical notes drifting from left to right, simulating an action theme.

NESSA (Cont., Caption) Wouldn’t mind hearing a song from one of those playing in my head right about now- as inspiration!

12.4: Close-up on the back of her wrists, showing her making the smallest dent in terms of breaking out. As was the case in the previous panel, the musical notes play out in the same way and direction, ending at a sudden CLANK!

12.5: Back to a shot of the monarch a few beats later, looking down at the door; her body tense and still compared to the previous pair of panels.

QUALG GRAY (calling out) Hello…?

12.6: Cut to a shot of the door and the wall of the room she’s seated in a beat later, inactive and gray-black in color with no seeming hint at the first bit of sound that drifts in from the bottom left area of the panel view.

QUALG GRAY (Off-Panel)

Hello! You friend or…?
