The Community, Issue 10: Part 2.2
Page 242 Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. Seanna glances over to the left after hearing a sound emanating from the front door area.
SEANNA
(Cont., to Lynn) My Mom's back from the groceries. Best of luck in the shoot.
LYNN
(Off-Panel, from the laptop speaker) Thanks. See ya in a few days, hon...love ya!
SEANNA
(Bubble 2) Love ya, too.
Panel 2: Action shot of Seanna taking a few of the bags out of their mother's hands just as she steps inside. You can see the level of exhaustion already on the mother's face at this point.
ANNA
(genuine smile, to Seanna) Hey. How was your day at school?
SEANNA
(nods, equal smile; to Anna) It was okay. Wi-Fi was a little funky in a couple of classes. But it straightened out before my Media Ethics class.
ANNA
(Bubble 2) That's good...
Panel 3: As they move a few moments later, Watkins looks back at their mother who lags behind, showing more of the weariness and exhaustion.
SEANNA
(concerned) You alright? I'd be happy to take on the rest of the groceries, if you need a rest.
SEANNA
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1) Okay...
Panel 4: We move back to a shot of Anna, waving off her son as she musters up a bit more energy at the moment.
ANNA
I'm fine, thank you. Just...dealing with that stupid cold I got a few days ago.
Page 243
Panel 1: Cut to Seanna a few moments later, following with bags in hand to the kitchen. You can see the concern subsiding, trusting their mom's judgment.
SEANNA
(suggestive, to Anna) I could conjure up a bowl of potato soup with cheese and bell peppers; help clean out the sinuses.
SEANNA
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1) Okay...
Panel 2: Action shot of Mrs. Watkins placing the rest of the bags in her arms on the counter next to them. She glances at her son, showing a great deal of love as she shakes her head.
ANNA
(pre-yawn, to Seanna) I appreciate the sentiment, my dear. Maybe a little later, after I hop into the bath.
Panel 3: A three-part set of panels that focuses on Watkins moments later as their mom walks out of view.
Panel 4: In the second part, a few beats later, the young person turns their attention to the bags of groceries. You can see the contents inside start to levitate out of their bags without much effort from Seanna.
Panel 5: In the third part, the bits start to move toward respective opened cabinet doors. Off-panel, as this happens, their phone starts ringing.
