The Community, Issue 10: Part 3.3

Page 250 Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. In the background behind her, you can see little snapshots showcasing different parts of what Jes has learned thus far.

JESMINDER

(Cont., thought bubble) The Sentry, the Defense connections, Walsh's overt friendliness with law enforcement- he wants to create his own nation. And given how antsy governments have been to would be nations throughout history...I gotta warn the others.

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments later, she's struck out of her train of thought by the sound of her friend's voice; her hand extending out to give her her phone back.

JOELY

(Off-Panel) You there, Jes?

JESMINDER

(nods, to Joely) Sorry, yeah. A little...jet lag, I guess.

Panel 3: She looks over to the right as a waitress walks into view; her gaze partially moved to the aforementioned customer.

JESMINDER

(to the waitress) Hey, would you mind putting the rest of this in a to-go box?

JESMINDER

(Bubble 2, to Joely; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1) ...That can wait.

Panel 4: A split second later, Joely reacts to her friend's question with curiosity and a touch of concern.

JOELY

I thought you were gonna tell me something.

JOELY

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 3, Bubble 2)

Fair enough. Gotta get back to the "personal business" I'm guessing.

Panel 5: We move back to Jesminder as she fully shifts her attention back toward her friend.

JESMINDER

(slight nod, to Joely) Fingers crossed, it won't be for much longer.

Panel 1: We jump a short time later, after the two of them have exchanged pleasantries goodbye. Jesminder is walking down the sidewalk on her phone; a look of stern seriousness on her face as she speaks.

JESMINDER

(on the phone, to Celia) Cee, you hear the news?

CELIA

(through the receiver, to Jesminder) Kinda living through some big news right now, boss. Gonna have to be much more specific.

JESMINDER

(Bubble 2) What are you ta...where the hell are you?

Panel 2: Action shot of Celia "BAMF"ing into position in some type of covered hideaway; the phone pressed to her hand. You can see Winnie partially to the upper right corner of the panel view.

CELIA

(slightly hushed) Back in Brasilia with the others, mounting a rescue for Lia.

JESMINDER

(through the receiver) Wait--Amelia's been kidnapped?! Must have been Walsh behind it- dammit! I should be there to help.

CELIA

(Bubble 2) Don't beat yourself up. You had personal stuff to tend to. If we need you, I'll call again.

Panel 3: Cut to a slight close-up of Ms. Letesha, waving from side-to-side a second later. You can see what appears to be a lightsaber holstered to their side.

CELIA

(Cont.) Besides, Winnie's here for a good immediate backup, along with the kid Seanna.

WINNIE

(courteous, to Jesminder) Hey, Jes...!

JESMINDER

(through the receiver) You sure they're the wisest in a fight?

CELIA

(Bubble 2) Seanna's not gonna be on the ground.

Panel 4: Meanwhile, at the rooftop of a building a few miles from the location, we see Seanna examining the situation off-panel right with a pair of high-powered binoculars in hand.

Caption

(Cont., Celia)

"They're stationed across the street, ready to conjure up an exit plan after we're finished."

Caption

(Jesminder)

"Alright, alright. I trust your judgment. I'll head back home."

Panel 5: Back to Ms. Borah in London who has stopped walking on a crosslight. She glances over from side to side as she speaks; the phone still pressed to her ear.

JESMINDER

(Cont., worried) Stay safe. I've just learned something we- all of us- need to know about Walsh.

CELIA

(through the receiver) Must be bad if you're catching nerves like that.

Panel 6: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Celia; the setting and layout similar to Panel 2. In the first part, she smiles and nods at the command. You can see Winnie in the background, psyching themselves up for what's to come.

CELIA

(Cont.) You have my word, boss. See ya in a bit.

Panel 7: In the second part, she pockets her phone again; her gaze shifting to the right to address the young South African who has already unleashed her lightsaber.

CELIA

(grins; to Winnie) Ready to kick some merc ass again, sis?

WINNIE

(equally cocky grin, to Celia) Most definitely, brah!
