Page 264 Panel 1: Jes looks over at her shoulder at Mrs. Watkins, trying to settle her antsiness as best as possible. You can see a scan of the building in the background.

JESMINDER

(explanatory, to Anna) To put it succinctly: there's someone targeting you and, in all likelihood, your child.

Panel 2: Anna is taken aback by the bit of news, stepping back a few inches as she tries to absorb the news.

ANNA

Jesus...!

Panel 3: Same setting as the previous panel; the layout widening to take in Celia bamfing just behind the woman, holding her by her shoulders.

CELIA

(reassuring, to Anna) You're gonna be okay. We just need to get you someplace safe for a little while.

ANNA

(worried) What about Thousand Watt...?

CELIA

(Bubble 2) Don't worry about them. They're more than capable of handling themselves against whatever's coming at them.

ANNA

(Bubble 2) I'm well aware of that, Ms. Ortiz.

Panel 4: At the same time, we see Seanna walking in the hallway to their next class, oblivious to any type of danger that might be coming down on them.

(Cont., Anna)

"But Seanna's my child. Part of me's always gonna be worried for them."

Panel 5: A few moments later, the phone already inside, and vibrating with a waiting message for them. Still, without much care or noticing from the young person.

Panel 6: As Watkins turns toward a door to go into class, the phone continues ringing in their bag. This time, Seanna glances down at the bag with a tiny glimmer of curiosity.

SEANNA

(thought bubble) Must be Lynn about the Kings game tomorrow.

Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that starts out with the young person in class, looking up at the professor and typing up as quick as they can; the phone stops vibrating now. You can see a smattering of other students all around doing roughly the same thing.

Panel 2: In the second part, there's a muffled explosion coming from off-panel right which draws the attention and concern of the other students. Seanna is a little late to the party in this regard.

Panel 3: Slight close-up on Seanna a few moments later, reaching into their bag to grab their phone. You can hear the other students off-panel muttering to themselves in fear.

Panel 4: A few moments later, we see them back in a seated and turned position looking at the phone. A text bubble emerges from the base of the phone from Jesminder: "There's gonna be an attack sometime soon around Sac State. Not sure what it is, but Walsh probably plays a role in it. Keep your eyes open- ttyl."

Panel 5: They look up from the phone toward the door as the professor proceeds to lock the door inside. Another text bubble emerges from the phone. This time, from Lynn asking, "I saw the news. You okay?"

SEANNA

(thought bubble) Oh, I'm really hoping for yes...!
