The Community, Issue 4: Part 4.4

Page 103 Panel 1: A split second after the end of the previous page, we shift to a shot of Winnie shaking her head at the end of the Doctor's statement. You can see the back of the aforementioned Doctor to the left of the panel view.

WINNIE

(exhausted, to Dr. Mokoena) No thanks. I could use a little bit of R&R.

Panel 2: Action shot moments later of her Ms. Letesha scooping up the perfectly broken clipboard; the papers on it still held together by the metal clip.

Caption

(Cont., Winnie)

"Recharge the batteries a bit."

Panel 3: A moment before the Doctor starts into her line of questioning, Adasha glances over and watches the young woman who saved her; an appreciative glint in her eyes.

Panel 4: Winnie looks over, noticing the old woman just before she leaves. She gives a slight nod back along with the same appreciative look in her eyes that we saw with Adasha.

WINNIE

(thought bubble) No way she could've saw me zipping out to get the straw and back...right?

Panel 5: Three weeks pass, and we see Luan and Winnie enjoying a cup of coffee in the break room. Though they're in full PPE (sans masks) and not talking, you can tell the two of them are having a nice conversation.

Three Weeks Later

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Their conversation is interrupted by the sound of ringing bells coming from off-panel right.

WINNIE

(seeking a confirmation, to Luan) That...Please tell me that's one of ours.

LUAN

(optimistic, to Winnie) Same. We've been due something good.

Panel 1: In the hallway leading to the front entrance, you can see a bunch of the hospital workers gathered around cheering and bang bells and pots as the patient- Adasha- is wheeled out via another nurse. You can see some of the protest signs on the floor next to some of the individual workers who were outside earlier.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of Luan and Winnie looking on near the end of the line a few moments later. There's a glint of happy crying coming from the young woman's eyes.

LUAN

(curious, to Winnie) That's the woman you saved with the emergency trach, right?

WINNIE

(nods, to Winnie) Yeah. I'd been busy with other virus, I--I didn't know she fully recovered from it.

LUAN

(Bubble 2) You ever get any of those freedom fighter stories you before then?

WINNIE

(Bubble 2) Got one about a week ago. Pretty awesome one- I'll tell you about it during our turn in the rotation.

Panel 3: As Adasha moves just across from the young woman, she signals for her to come closer to her.

Panel 4: Slight close-up of the old woman whispering what she has to say to Winnie a few moments later.

ADASHA

(to Winnie) The gods have given you a hell of a power- make sure not to waste it!

Panel 5: Winnie stands in the same spot moments after she leaves; a flash of realization on her face, superseding the surprise of the fact Adasha knows she's had powers.

WINNIE

(thought bubble) I should be worried, but...I'm not. I know she won't screw me and tell the world about it.

Panel 6: Cut to a shot of a tablet screen unlocking. One that belongs to Seanna back in the States in 2022. Though it's primarily black, the edges of the screen on the sides of the panel give away it's in fact a tablet.

(Cont., Winnie)

"I wonder if I'm the only one who has powers."

Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that focuses on the tablet screen. In the first part, we see the homepage on Seanna's tablet showing the smattering of apps on it including Spotify and Pandora and the USHS (United States Health Service) app. You can see their fingers moving toward the Feedly app.

WEATHERPERSON

(Off-Panel) A cold front will slide in from the Pacific Northwest Wednesday night into...

Panel 2: A short time later, we see them deep in the Feedly app, glancing at the headlines that pop up from one of their feeds- Pro Hockey Talk. One of the headlines centers on a hot streak for the Seattle Kraken.

WEATHERPERSON

(Cont., Off-Panel) ...Going into the weekend though, things should warm up into the upper 60s, possibly the low 70s as we get to Thanksgiving.

THERAPIST

(Off-Panel, to Seanna)

...Sea-anna Watkins?

Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Seanna looking up from their tablet a beat later upon hearing their name, dressed in an XL women's top and a pair of leggings. We see the general setting as a hospital waiting room; their mom Anna seated next to them to the right.

SEANNA

(calmly explanatory, to the Therapist) It's Seanna, actually.

ANNA

(adding on, to the Therapist) As in Sean Connery, or Sean Kingston.

Panel 4: We move to the Therapist a short distance from the young person with an embarrassed look on her face regarding her mistake.

THERAPIST

Oh, sorry...

Panel 5: Back to Watkins a few beats later, standing up; Anna taking in the closed tablet from their hands. The setting similar to Panel 3 with the layout of the scene widening to take in the aforementioned movement.

SEANNA

(nonchalant) Not the first person to make that slip up.

Panel 6: Action shot of them moving toward the Therapist, a second before the two walk down the hallway side by side to the session.

THERAPIST

(curious) So, last day in therapy! Must be excited to finally be done with it all.

SEANNA

(slight grin) Yeah...curious to see what tomorrow brings.
