The Community, Issue 6: Part 1.3
Page 136 Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Celia and Marta looking out from a van parked on a small hill nearby the base. Celia is dressed in a tanktop and jeans, stretching out her right arm in preparation for what's to come.
MARTA
(reassuring, to Celia; translated from Portuguese) This was Sousa's big pet project before he got impeached. Of course the new administration's gonna have a lotta bodies guarding it- pandemic prep's good PR.
CELIA
(groans, to Marta; translated from Portuguese) At least some of them probably voted for Sousa...should make things considerably more fun!
MARTA
(Bubble 2) Damn right!
CELIA
(Bubble 2) I'm surprised the tech came from an American, given what they dealt with in the pandemic.
MARTA
(Bubble 3) American delusion is a hell of a drug. Especially white American delusion.
CELIA
(Bubble 3) Isn't that the damn truth...!
Panel 2: Slight close-up on Celia a moment after she finishes stretching. As she speaks, you can see her left hand going out of panel view to the lower left corner.
CELIA
(Cont.) Anyway, I should be in and out in about five minutes. It goes longer than that, and I'm either dead or on my way to a detention center in Cuiaba or Campo Grande. That happens, find a TV camera and light up the assholes.
MARTA
(Off-Panel) You have my word, soul sister.
Panel 3: We move back to the same setting/layout as Panel 1. She finishes the rest of her statement; a cloud of smoke obscuring the background, and signalling a teleportation about to happen. You can see her biceps growing three fold in size at this point.
CELIA
(confident, lovingly) Didn't doubt that for a second. Nós somos...
Panel 4: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Marta in the same spot as before, glancing from her periphery at her friend off-panel right.
MARTA
(chimes in, equally lovingly) o futuro da nação!
Panel 5: In the second part, moments after her friend bamfs out of the scene, Marta turns her attention to the building once more. She picks up something off the ground- a metal staff- and places it next to her. On the bottom right, you can see a countdown clock set at 5:00.
Page 137
Panel 1: Celia reappears a short time later in the hallway of the facility; the smoke dissipating up to the ceiling. She looks around in search of the room. The countdown clock has ticked down to 4:58.
CELIA
(to herself, translated from Portuguese) Now, the blueprints point to the device being on the third floor near the exosuit room.
Panel 2: She bamfs and reappears a split second later at a different part of the compound. Still looking around for the room in question. The countdown clock now has hit 4:21.
CELIA
(Cont., intrigued by "exosuit") Part of me really wants to steal one for Ames to tinker around with. But the heat it'd bring: not worth it, I think.
Panel 3: A two-part set of panels that starts out with a similar pattern as the previous pair of panels. You can see a special room in the background that looks like a wind tunnel, but isn't. The countdown clock now has hit 4:11.
CELIA
(Cont.) Just stick to the job...
Panel 4: In the second part, right in the middle of her thought, she bamfs to a different part of the hallway in search of the room; her demeanor switching to "business as usual." The countdown clock has hit 4:09.
CELIA
(Cont.) Get in, sabotage the shiny new piece of destructive tech, get the hell out.
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of the guard noticing the young woman appearing at the exact same moment. He snaps to attention upon seeing the intruder; his hand reaching for the gun in its holster. The countdown clock has hit 4:06.
SOLDIER #2
(to Celia, translated from Portuguese) FREEZE!
Panel 6: Back to Celia in the same setting/layout as Panel 4. She lets out a mild chuckle at the sight of the soldier; an excited smirk coming over her face. The countdown clock has hit 4:04.
CELIA
Ah, shoulda factored in security inside...oh well, more fun for me!
