The Community, Issue 6: Part 2.1

Page 138 Panel 1: An elaborate sequence that takes up most of the page, showing her going through a group of soldiers that have joined in. With each one, she levels them with hard uppercuts and kicks to the face. All the while rapping MC Carol's "Meu Namorado é Mó Otário." Through it all, the clock ticks down by each precious second over the top of the page till it hits 3:04.

CELIA

(Pose 1)

Meu namorado é maior otário

(Bubble 2, Pose 2)

Ele lava minhas calcinhas

(Bubble 3, Pose 3)

Se ele fica cheio de marra eu mando ele pra cozinha

(Bubble 4, Pose 4)

Se tu não tá gostando, então dorme no portão!

(Bubble 5, Pose 5)

Porque eu vou pro baile, vou pra minha--

Panel 2: Action shot of the young woman felled by a wide dispersing electrical net from the ceiling before she can take out another soldier; the countdown clock at the same 3:04 as before.

(Arturo, translated from Portuguese)

"Man, that was a pain in the ass!"

(Hector, translated from Portuguese)

"I'll notify the front gate to call local police to get her--is that who I think is...?

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of a pair of soldiers walking toward Celia's unconscious body; the bodies of the soldiers she'd felled partially visible in the background. To the right is Hector with the large gun that fired said net. Next to him is Arturo- both dressed in standard military fatigues for a private. The countdown clock has hit 2:53.

HECTOR

(Cont., to Arturo excited; translated from Portuguese)

Holy crap, La dedo Medio- in the flesh! We're getting a promotion for sure.

ARTURO

(skeptical, to Hector; translated from Portuguese)

That's not La dedo Medio.

HECTOR

(Bubble 2)

How do you know?!

ARTURO

(Bubble 2)

First off: La dedo Medio's buff. She's fat- and ugly as hell. No superhero has ever been fat.

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. As the two of them argue, you can see the young woman crack back awake; her eyes blazing with the flames of inner rage. The countdown clock has it 2:47.

HECTOR

(retorts)

What about Glob, or Big Bertha?

ARTURO

(scoffs) Two heroes no one's ever heard of. Thank you for proving my point.

HECTOR

(Bubble 2) How do you explain the teleporting stuff she did? The smoke?

ARTURO

(Bubble 2)

It's all a diversion- special effects, tricks of light! You know how the Left loves Hollywood. We should probably looking out for other people inside...

Panel 3: A split second later- 2:46 on the countdown clock- an explosive boom shakes in from the left of the panel view, pulling the attention of the two privates as well as the other men in the background. Celia's rage is tinged slightly with surprise at the development.

CELIA

(thought bubble)

Damn, that stings! But I gotta hand it to her...

Panel 4: Action shot of the woman discarding of the net moments later, still visibly sore from what happened. You can see her face take on a touch of respect for the action. The countdown clock now is 2:36.

CELIA

(Cont., thought bubble) She was right about the trip timer on the firework.

Panel 5: Cut to a shot of Marta back at the van, watching the fireworks (some of which are purple and smoky- an allusion to Celia bamfing out at the end of the previous panel) that went off back in Panel 3.

Caption

(Cont., Celia)

"I should thank her with some good booze after we're finished."

MARTA

(proud, translated from Portuguese) I knew saving that firecracker from VC Day would be helpful one day.
