The Community, Issue 8: Part 2.3

Page 192 Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that follows Walsh, stopping a few steps in front of the edge of the window watching the game; the phone in his hand, screen down to the floor.

WALSH

(Cont., ponderous) Seanna doesn't have an activist past, like the others. I could make this work, appeal to a realm of logic the ladies do not possess--

Panel 2: In the second part, his phone rings which breaks the billionaire from his moment of thought.

WALSH

(to himself) ...Put a pin in that thought.

Panel 3: He paces away from the window to answer the call. You can see a section of the arena around Walsh, including the scoreboard, in the background.

WALSH

(to Costa) This a happy phone call, or the opposite- old friend?

COSTA

(through the receiver, to Walsh)

Very happy, A-Train. I got off the phone with the lead contractor in Italy: site's almost finished.

WALSH

(Bubble 2) Superb...

Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Costa at a fancy restaurant in his finest dress, eating a grilled salmon with a side of rice. You can see a handful of other diners in the background behind him.

WALSH

(Cont., through the receiver) Did he say how long we could be able to show it off to the public?

COSTA

A month- month and a half, barring leaks from reporters making a mess of things. Not to mention the magic chick and her little coven.

Panel 5: Back to the arena and Walsh; the setting and layout similar to Panel 3. He chuckles at his friend's response, flashing a little more teeth than earlier.

COSTA

(Cont., through the receiver) The FBI manhunt should help keep them at bay though.

WALSH

For a time. The files though point to a likelihood of persistence that we should prepare for.

COSTA

(Bubble 2) What do you have in mind?

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A flash of realization hits the CEO's face a beat later; the smile widening to an evil level as she speaks.

WALSH

(Cont.) Ooooo...!

COSTA

(through the receiver) Yes?

WALSH

(Bubble 2) I may have just the trick.

Panel 1: Snapshot of a thirtysomething man grabbing a few twelve-packs of beer inside a mini-mart somewhere, wearing a heavy light brown jacket and a pair of jeans; a sullen expression on his face.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot inside a bright white void somewhere. Jes is sitting on a recliner chair, looking over to the left at Watkins' standing at a doorway downstage.

SEANNA

(nods gratefully, to Jesminder) Of course. Any group fighting murderous cyborgs can't be as bad as the press sees them.

JESMINDER

(curious, to Seanna) You're certain we'll be protected in this "dimensional pocket" of yours?

SEANNA

(Bubble 2) Absolutely. It's keyed in to the DNA signatures of everyone already inside, invisible to law enforcement and...

Panel 3: Back to the thirtysomething man who is now in his pickup truck a short time later; the beers sitting on the passenger side. You can see some of the street lights in the background of the shot.

Panel 4: Action shot of Lynn crossing over toward the doorway, considerably fresher than we last left her with a half-grin.

LYNN

(adding on, to Jesminder) Speaking of Seanna's mom, just so you know- she makes a kickass lasagna sometimes.

Panel 5: Half hour later, the thirtysomething man pulls up to a cabin; one of many who had already arrived there.

Panel 6: We move to a shot of Ms. Gupta on the chair, glancing over at Lynn with a slightly puzzled look on her face.

JESMINDER

(to Lynn) What is lasagna?

Panel 7: At the door to the home a short time later, we see the thirtysomething man friendly greet another similarly aged man at the door, dressed in combat fatigues.

Panel 8: Lynn looks over at the young/old woman with shock at the admission.

LYNN

You've never had lasagna? You are missing out! Especially her furkey lasagna- a truly divine experience!
