The Community, Issue 9: Part 2.1
Page 213 Panel 1: Action shot of Jesminder turning around to follow Ms. Letesha, who briefly swoops over to a table off-panel as
the young/old woman's speaking.
JESMINDER
(excited, to Winnie) Splendid! How deep are you able to get in? I wouldn't mind being able to go on offense for once.
Panel 2: Winnie places the computer on the countertop of the table and sits down across from it. You can see the back of Jes in the foreground as well as the shadow of Celia joining in.
WINNIE
(caveat, to Jesminder) Not on that level, sadly. But we should be able to spot their basic day-to-day operation.
Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Jesminder's face as she moves toward the same position. Her focus is shared between the screen and Winnie as she speaks.
JESMINDER
(curious) What about archival files? Particular anything that stretches back one or two months?
Panel 4: We move back to Winnie as she takes a seat; a matter of fact look on her face.
WINNIE
(to Celia) Shouldn't be too tough. I'm not sure why we'd want to...Oh!
Panel 5: Same setting as the previous panel; the layout widening out slightly to take in the other two women standing behind Winnie as she types up the respective command.
Panel 6: We move to a shot of Celia and Jesminder standing next to each other in conversation as this goes on.
CELIA
(unsure whisper, to Jesminder) You sure this is a lead?
JESMINDER
(confident/unsure whisper, to Celia) I'm sure...well, 50-50. anyway Don't tell me it didn't set off your bullshit meter when you read it.
CELIA
(Bubble 2) Of course it did. But there's a chance this is just good ol' fashioned corruption, unrelated to WalshTech and all our weirdness.
JESMINDER
(Bubble 2) I've spent years... studying politics and those who practice outside it, and there's one truth I've found.
Page 214
Panel 1: Cut to a shot of a police detective at their desk- one of those mentioned in the previous issue. We see them discover a mysterious E-Mail pop up in their Inbox.
Caption
(Cont., Jesminder)
"Those with the most nefarious intentions always have a long game planned."
Panel 2: We move to a shot of Walsh seated on a fine leather couch, watching a Warriors game on his tablet. He's dressed in casual clothes; a small traveling case seated next to him.
Caption
(Cont., Jesminder)
"That goes doubly so for Silicon Valley CEOs."
Panel 3: Minutes later, his pilot arrives standing in front of the doorway in a private airfield. You can see part of his private plane via the window on the tarmac in the background.
PILOT
(to Walsh) The plane's fueled and ready for takeoff, sir.
PILOT
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1) Activated and centered around the entire airfield.
Panel 4: Back to Walsh a few moments later, standing up from the leather couch; the game on the tablet paused.
WALSH
(inquisitive, to Pilot) What about the dome?
Panel 5: Cut to an exterior shot of the airfield as a whole; three distinct laser beams shooting from different points. The result a protective defensive shield against any electronic devices that don't belong to Mr. Walsh.
Caption
(Cont., Pilot)
"If I may ask: I'm not sure why the security measures are necessary. It's just a patch of land you're going to."
Panel 6: Same setting/layout as Panel 4. It's an action shot of the billionaire CEO properly moving away from the couch a moment later; the traveling case firmly in his left hand.
WALSH
(correcting, and proud) It's not just "a patch of land"...It's the future!
