The Community, Issue 9: Part 3.2

Page 221 Panel 1: Flash back to a few days ago; Seanna and Jesminder chatting inside the pocket dimension room. You can see the latter gathering things inside a backpack for the rally.

(Ant)

"What'd they say?"

JESMINDER

(emphatically, to Seanna) Hell no, that's a purely idiotic idea!

SEANNA

(inquisitive, to Jesminder) Why? It'd give them an advantage against whatever Sacramento PD throws at them. Not to mention weeding out the anarchists before they become an issue.

JESMINDER

(Bubble 2) You haven't been through as much fighting as any of us have.

Panel 2: Slight close-up on Ms. Borah a moment later, looking over to the right in Watkins' direction to hammer home her point.

JESMINDER

(Cont.) Besides, it wouldn't be their movement or their message trying to go out to the press. It'd be "superpeople are a menace to law and order!" That's not worth the short-term victory.

Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Celia tying the strap to a crate of bottled water as high as her thigh. She glances over at the conversation, paying somewhat attention to the conversation.

CELIA

(chiming in, to Seanna) Also, you're in school. A camera catches an image of you, and it's game over. Lynn would beat you- and me- senselessly if I let that happen.

Panel 4: Back to Seanna who acquiesces to the women's greater arguments; their body language slightly muted compared to the top of the page.

SEANNA

Fair point. I just...given what happened to the kid, I feel the need to help--

JESMINDER

(interjecting, Off-Panel) I understand quite well...

Panel 5: Action shot of Jes looping the backpack over her shoulders as she speaks; a sympathetic look on her face.

JESMINDER

(Cont.) There are more ways to be useful to the struggle than on the front line. Besides, you can always spend some time with your partner.

JESMINDER

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 6, Bubble 1) Oh, right right. Still could do it on Facetime though...

Panel 6: We move back to Celia; the setting/layout similar to Panel 3. With the water already on her shoulders, she moves toward her friend ready to go.

CELIA

(correcting, to Jesminder) Actually, she's in Toronto for a competition.

CELIA

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 5, Bubble 2) True. It is your turn on the quality time scale.

Panel 1: Back in the present, Ant flashes a puzzled glare regarding the end of the story; her hand holding a fork, taking a piece of her salad.

ANT

(puzzled/respectful, to Seanna) Seems kind of a short change, given your powers.

Panel 2: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Seanna, calmly answering the question posed to them. As they speak, you can see them grabbing the tuna melt with their right hand.

ANT

(Cont., Off-Panel) Even though your friend sounds like Black Widow.

SEANNA

(agreeing correction,to Ant)

She's more Scarlet Witch and Captain America mixed together, especially with her taste in music. And I'm fine with it. I make it work for the most part. Doesn't hurt that--

Panel 3: In the second part, interrupting Watkins' train of thought, the phone in their bag starts to vibrate. They glance down off-panel in the direction of the bag; the sandwich gripped, though still on the plate.

SEANNA

(Cont., apologetic) Excuse me a moment...

Panel 4: Action shot of the young person a minute later, glancing at the phone; a text bubble from the automatic system from Yo-Yo's program emerging from the phone, which reads- "ID Match from Search Found."

Panel 5; At about the same time, in the middle of the march line in Sacramento, we see Jesminder looking over at her phone at the information Lynn has found.

Caption

(Cont., Lynn; text form)

"Sending the info to you now."

JESMINDER

(surprised) I--I know this guy!
